April 24, 2025
Antisemitic incidents across the United States have surged to unprecedented levels, prompting urgent responses from Jewish communities and allies nationwide. In 2024, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recorded 9,354 cases of antisemitic assault, harassment, and vandalisma staggering 893% increase over the past decade.
Alarming Statistics
- Indiana: Antisemitic incidents more than doubled compared to the previous year.
- New York: Over 1,400 reported cases in 2024, the highest in the nation.
- Nationwide: 58% of incidents were related to Israel, especially following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack.
This sustained elevation indicates the post-October 7 experience was no temporary spike, stated Oren Segal, ADL Senior Vice President for Counter-Extremism and Intelligence.
Community Responses
Jewish leaders, interfaith groups, and civil rights organizations are mobilizing to address this surge:
- Hosting town halls and community forums.
- Increasing security measures at synagogues and Jewish centers.
- Launching educational campaigns to combat hate and misinformation.
