Earlier this year, reports suggested there are three foldable devices in the works: B6, Q6 and Q6a. The first two are the Z Flip6 and Z Fold6. As for “Q6a”, it was variously speculated that it is the Galaxy Z Fold FE, Z Fold Slim or Z Fold Ultra.

Work on this model continues – GalaxyClub has found evidence that devs are building firmware for a phone with model number SM-F958N. For reference, the Z Fold6 is SM-F956. The last digit indicates the class of the device (e.g. the S24+ is SM-S926, the S24 Ultra is SM-S928) and the final letter indicates the region. “N” being for Korea, while Chinese models use “0” (zero).

On top of that, the SM-F958N firmware is set for country codes KOO, KTC, SKC and LUC. These are South Korea (unlocked), KT roaming, SK Telecom and LG U+. In other words, these are for the three biggest carriers in South Korea and an unbranded model.

Allround-PC claims to have information that the Q6a model, Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra, or whatever it ends up being called, will also launch in China. The launch in Korea and China is allegedly set for October.

If this is true, then this will be the Samsung W25. Samsung’s foldables use different branding in China (W instead of Z) and have a slightly different exterior. Here’s the Samsung W24 and the Galaxy Z Fold5 from last year, for example. Also note that the W24 had 16GB of RAM, while the international model only came with 12GB.

However, this would be a much bigger change than the typical W device. And Samsung has never sold the W models outside of China (well, it sold the Galaxy Z versions). Is there a chance that there will be an even wider launch? We’ll have to wait to find out.

For what it’s worth, Samsung will allegedly unveil the Galaxy Tab S10 series (and maybe its XR headset and more) in October, so this might be an Unpacked that rivals the July event.
