Not all stores are open on Easter Sunday! Find out where you can shop this year, and which stores will be closed on Easter.
Think you’ll need a few extra things before your Easter festivities tomorrow? Make sure you know which stores will actually be open before heading out to grab last-minute items!
Many retailers will remain open on this holiday, in case you need to pick up anything at the last minute. Several others will close their doors so their employees can celebrate with their families or enjoy a well-deserved day off.
If you’re planning to do any shopping on Easter, be sure to check the list of stores below so you know what is open on Easter Sunday. Keep in mind that store closures and holiday hours may vary by location, so you’ll want to call ahead to confirm before heading out.
Grocery stores open on Easter Sunday:
Most 7-Eleven locations will be open on Easter, but some may operate with modified hours.
Most Albertsons locations are open during their regular Sunday hours on Easter, but holiday hours may vary from store to store.
The majority of BJ’s locations will be open from 8 AM to 6 PM on Easter Sunday, but you can confirm your local store’s hours here.
Food Lion grocery stores are open for regular hours on Easter Sunday, although regular shopping hours do vary by location.
In 2023, Fresh Market stores were open from 8 AM to 6 PM. They are expected to keep the same hours again in 2024, but it may be best to contact your local store for their hours of operation.
While Giant and Martin’s stores used to be closed on Easter Sunday, many stores have remained open on Easter with modified shopping hours for the past several years. We expect this trend to continue this year, with Giant and Martin’s grocery stores remaining open on Easter Sunday but closing as early as 3 PM in many cases.
Most Harris-Teeter locations will be open on Easter Sunday, with regular shopping hours in effect.
Hy-Vee grocery stores are open on Easter, but select departments within each store may be operating with adjusted holiday hours. Head on over here and select your Hy-Vee location to see its store hours for Easter Sunday.
Once again, Kroger plans to remain open on Easter Sunday. Kroger pharmacies, however, will be closed on Easter.
Meijer grocery stores will be open on Easter Sunday, many with normal operating hours. Note that select locations may opt to close early as they have done in the past.
All Safeway locations are expected to be open on Easter Sunday, but shopping hours may vary from store to store.
Stop & Shop locations will be open on Easter with reduced hours this year. Most stores will open at 7 AM and close sometime between 2 PM and 5 PM, so contact your local Stop & Shop to verify their hours before heading out.
Trader Joe’s will be open on Easter, with normal hours of operation from 9 AM to 9 PM in most locations. Select stores may close at 5 PM, so call ahead to your local TJ’s if you’re heading out after 5:00 on Easter Sunday.
Wegmans will be open on Easter, with regular store hours in most locations. Note that in-store pharmacies will have reduced hours, with many open from just 9 AM to 1 PM.
While Whole Foods does alter its store hours for several major holidays, Easter isn’t one of them! Whole Foods will be open on Easter Sunday.
Grocery stores closed on Easter Sunday:
Most ALDI stores are closed on Easter, but locations in CA and AZ may be open. It’s best to call your local ALDI store to confirm.
All H-E-B stores are closed on Easter for in-store shopping, curbside pickup, and delivery.
Every year, Natural Grocers closes all its locations for Easter Sunday.
Publix stores are closed on Easter Sunday, but each location will resume its regular shopping hours on the following day.
Retail stores open on Easter Sunday:
Most Bath & Body Works locations will be open on Easter, although some may operate with reduced holiday hours. Be sure to check with your location before heading out on Easter.
Big Lots is open on Easter Sunday. Special holiday hours may be in effect at select locations, so be sure to visit the Big Lots Store Locator to see the store hours at a Big Lots near you.
Most CVS stores and pharmacies maintain normal operating hours on Easter Sunday.
Dollar General stores will be open on Easter, with normal hours of operation.
In some locations, Dollar Tree will be open on Easter. Select stores may have reduced hours, and other stores may be closed altogether. Since holiday hours are inconsistent from one location to the next, it may be best to contact your local Dollar Tree for their Easter Sunday schedule.
The Home Depot will be open on Easter, but many locations will have reduced hours. Many stores we checked with will be open from 8 AM until 6 PM on Easter, but Easter hours may vary by store.
IKEA will be open on Easter Sunday, but your location may have reduced hours. Many IKEA stores will close at 6 PM on Easter this year.
Most Old Navy locations will operate on a holiday schedule for Easter with reduced hours. Select stores may remain closed for Easter, so it’s best to contact your location and ask about their holiday operating schedule.
Petco locations are expected to be open on Easter 2024.
Rite-Aid pharmacies will be open on Easter, with normal store hours in most locations.
Most Walgreens locations will be open during normal operating hours on Easter Sunday. Select stores may follow adjusted hours, which will appear on Walgreen’s Store Locator.
Walmart stores nationwide will be open for normal business hours on Easter Sunday.
Retail stores closed on Easter Sunday:
Most Ace Hardware Stores are expected to be closed on Easter Sunday. Since they are independently owned and operated, this practice may vary by location.
The majority of Apple Stores are closed for business on Easter Sunday.
Best Buy is closed on Easter Sunday, but stores will be open for regular business hours again on the following day.
All Dick’s Sporting Goods locations are closed on Easter.
Costco is normally closed on Easter, and they will continue this trend in 2024. The warehouse club will reopen for regular shopping hours on the Monday after Easter.
No surprises here – Hobby Lobby stores are always closed on Sunday, and Easter is no exception.
HomeGoods will be closed on Easter Sunday. Stores will reopen the following day for their regular shopping hours.
As they’ve done in years past, JCPenney stores will remain closed on Easter Sunday.
