That record involved a paltry 74 casinos.<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t appear as though the record would ever be broken due to the fact the previous criteria specified placing bets on live table games. If that is not a word, it needs to be.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Based upon the math, it\u2019s clear Guinness didn\u2019t hold the record-breakers to a strict interpretation of the previous criteria, as there aren\u2019t 115 proper casinos in Las Vegas to visit. There are around 80 venues people think of as casinos on The Strip and downtown. (You can see the licensee totals on the Nevada Gaming Control Board Web site, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaming.nv.gov\/contentassets\/a7958398526e4e309d248ea35a2a20dd\/august-2025-monthly-revenue-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in .pdf<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>There are, however, more than 115 venues we\u2019ll call \u201cgaming establishments,\u201d otherwise known informally as \u201cslot parlors.\u201d Clark County has about 1,500 such places.<\/p>\n<p>There seems to be confusion around the official rules because they currently say only casinos with table games or electronic table games qualify for this record, not slots. We prefer the broader definition that appears to include taverns and bars with bartop games (most notably chains like Dotty\u2019s and PT\u2019s). The folks at Guinness aren\u2019t casino experts, they\u2019re record experts. A lot of people don\u2019t really get the difference between electronic table games and slots. Most bartop machines have table games (like blackjack) on them. Forest for the trees!<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s think of it this way: This wasn\u2019t so much breaking a record as setting a new record with a new and more realistic set of rules.<\/p>\n<p>Guinness could\u2019ve called this \u201cMost Land-Based Gaming Establishments, the Majority of Which Are Old-School Casinos but There May Have Been a Dotty\u2019s in the Mix, Visited in 24 Hours,\u201d but that\u2019s not nearly as snappy as \u201cMost Casinos Visited in 24 Hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44924\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44924\" style=\"width: 845px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-44924 size-post-thumbnail-crop-845xAUTO\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"1122\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/world_record_spoof-845x1122.jpg\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44924\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It\u2019s satire! If we could not be fired, that\u2019d be great.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The folks at Guinness showed flexibility by broadening the criteria for what qualifies as a casino. Ultimately, world records are supposed to be fun and Guinness made this record fun (and breakable) again.<\/p>\n<p>We haven\u2019t been able to get our hands on the complete list of casinos visited, but we get why that information is being closely guarded. Why would they hand a roadmap to victory (involving a year-and-a-half of planning) to other aspiring record-breakers? Have you ever watched \u201cAmazing Race\u201d? This isn\u2019t socialism, it\u2019s dog-eat-dog. Record-breaking is a bloodsport. It\u2019s the Hunger Games, survival of the fittest, winner takes all.<\/p>\n<p>Colonel Sanders isn\u2019t sharing his secret herbs and spices with Popeyes. That\u2019s because Colonel Sanders is dead, but you get the idea.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line: Guinness World Records are for entertainment purposes only.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, all Guinness World Records are created and adjudicated by Guinness World Records. They set the rules and criteria and determine if the criteria have been satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>Guinness peaked as a shared cultural touchstone in the 1990s, before the Internet democratized (and some would say diluted) world records and generally ruined everything.<\/p>\n<p>There are other keepers of world records, of course, but Guinness World Records is the gold standard.<\/p>\n<p>We personally hold a world record with another company, <a href=\"https:\/\/recordsetter.com\/world-record\/photos-taken-million-dollars\/33202\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Record Setters<\/a>, for \u201cMost Photos Taken With One Million Dollars.\u201d We are not making this up.<\/p>\n<p>Kudos to Garrett Smith and Joel Strasser for their hard-earned new world record.<\/p>\n<p>Smith and Strasser\u2019s Herculean feat involved layers of planning and logistics and chronicling and adjudicationary majesty, which we should mention was the name of our band in high school.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44923\" style=\"width: 845px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-44923 size-post-thumbnail-crop-845xAUTO\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/adjudicationary_majesty-845x563.jpg\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kevin took songwriting credit and receives all the royalties for our band\u2019s hit, but it was a collaboration.
