A popular and beloved burger joint, Bar Code Burgers, has closed after nearly a decade.<\/p>\n

While we don\u2019t report on every closed bar or restaurant in Las Vegas, this closure is notable because, damn, those burgers were tasty in spite of the fact one had to endure sports to enjoy them. The bar was also \u201cfamily-friendly.\u201d Ew.<\/p>\n

Despite its location in a seedy part of town, Bar Code Burgers (sometimes called Bar Code Burger Bar) was a family-owned business, apparently unable to survive in the dog-eat-dog world of Las Vegas restaurants.<\/p>\n

We like our burgers plain, but we left all that stuff on for the photo. The things we do for you.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Bar Code\u2019s official Web site<\/a> has been taken down, the traditional cue for a sad trombone.<\/p>\n

None of the bar\u2019s social media channels addressed the closure. As our fellow kids say, customers have been ghosted.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no mean feat to snag the readers\u2019 choice award for \u201cBest Burger\u201d in Las Vegas, but Bar Code did just that multiple times in the Las Vegas Weekly\u2019s<\/a> Best of Vegas Awards.<\/p>\n

Why did they wash staff uniforms in Tide? Because it was too damned Code out-Tide. Or something.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Because we couldn\u2019t find much about Bar Code Burgers online, we\u2019ll lift some words from our friends at Neon Feast<\/a>: \u201cWhen the creator of one of Las Vegas\u2019 top home-grown burger joints names someone else\u2019s restaurant on his personal list of top burger spots, you know it has to be good. That\u2019s exactly what happened with Bar Code Burger, which was named on the surveys of multiple restaurant owners, including Fukuburger\u2019s Colin Fukunaga.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t have the Neon Feast app, we\u2019ll wait while you download it. It\u2019s a great resource and integrates the opinions of Las Vegas chefs and other food experts. Including us.<\/p>\n

No, really, they ask our opinion despite the fact we have the palate of one of those fish that suck the scum off aquarium walls.<\/p>\n

We do, however, know burgers. Bar Code\u2019s were solid.<\/p>\n

Look, we never claimed to be a foodie. We like what we like.<\/p>\n

We are definitely not mad that Neon Feast<\/a> says we are \u201cperhaps the world\u2019s foremost authority\u201d on downtown Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we were sorry to hear about the demise of Bar Code. Big thanks to @WhatsTheT<\/a> on Twitter for the tip.<\/p>\n

Update (9\/25\/25): Following our first reporting of this story, the Review-Journal<\/a> followed up and got a statement from the bar\u2019s owner, Cody Tomboli: \u201cClosing Bar Code was an incredibly difficult decision after 9 1\/2 years of serving the Las Vegas community. We\u2019re so grateful for the memories created, the relationships built, and the loyal guests who made Bar Code feel like more than just a restaurant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Random thought: Maybe Bar Code would\u2019ve stayed open if they\u2019d served Tombolis. They sound delicious.<\/p>\n

Can you imagine? Tombolis al Forno, Tombolis Rustica, Cheeseburst Tombolis, Tombolis Supreme, Mega-Melt Tombolis, Tombolis Inferno, Deep-Fried Tombolis. Cheesy Tombos are super family-friendly!<\/p>\n

Hey, have you tried the Truffle Tombolis at Bar Code, bro? They are fleek.\u201d<\/p>\n
