Vegas is doomed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Las Vegas is at a crossroads. It\u2019s a serious time, with serious challenges, and it requires serious people to face the problems head on, with creativity and competence and concrete solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The LVCVA\u2019s first \u201cFabulous\u201d ad is giving none of that. Welcome to fabulous.<br \/>It\u2019s spectacular, outrageous, impossible stuff.<br \/>You\u2019ll stop and yell,<br \/>Welcome to fabulous!<br \/>I think this trip is good for my brain.<br \/>Stay out tonight.<br \/>You\u2019ll sleep on the plane.<br \/>A world of absurd,<br \/>a place to combust,<br \/>this is Las Vegas.<br \/>Welcome to fabulous.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d say this insipid sludge was written by A.I., but that would be insulting to A.I.<\/p>\n<p>Even worse than the lack of originality exhibited, the campaign seems to be completely tone-deaf to the tsunami of chatter around why visitation has fallen 7% in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what the LVCVA claims it\u2019s doing with the new campaign: \u201cMore than a campaign, it is a recommitment to the extraordinary spirit of Las Vegas, launched at a pivotal moment to reaffirm that unmatched hospitality and fabulous experiences are not trends, but timeless promises that embody the city\u2019s glamour, vitality and sense of escape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These campaigns are wildly expensive (paid for with tax dollars, by the way).<\/p>\n<p>Las Vegas casinos are in need of help from their tourism agency.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t that.<\/p>\n<p>This is flushing millions of dollars down the drain.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44746\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44746\" style=\"width: 845px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-44746 size-post-thumbnail-crop-845xAUTO\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/lvcva_visitor_stats_jul2025-845x563.jpg\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44746\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After 53 months of $1 billion-plus gambling revenue, it couldn\u2019t last forever, but still.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Can the LVCVA counter nuanced reasons for the decline in visitation like U.S. policy or economic uncertainty? Not really. Can it address the elephant in the room? Probably. Visitors don\u2019t want the same ads the LVCVA has been running for decades. They want Vegas to be Vegas again. They want value and to be treated like their business matters.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44732\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44732\" style=\"width: 845px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-44732 size-post-thumbnail-crop-845xAUTO\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"1122\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/make_vegas_a_value_again-845x1122.jpg\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44732\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This fake ad we made in 2018 is better than the entire \u201cFabulous\u201d campaign, whatever it may or may not be.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This new LVCVA creative is flaccid and embarrassing.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is the LVCVA and its partner, R&amp;R Partners, have never had to actually do anything before. They\u2019ve been on autopilot, cashing those sweet paychecks and rolling around naked in their self-aggrandizing bonuses. Las Vegas has always had built-in demand. (It once had a monopoly on gambling.) The demand is waning. That\u2019s a big deal that requires big ideas.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third strike for the LVCVA. F1 has hurt Las Vegas more than it helps. The A\u2019s donkey derby continues to unfold (the project isn\u2019t funded). And now this high-profile faceplant.<\/p>\n<p>Fire everyone. And make it quick. Vegas isn\u2019t dead, but this image campaign makes it look like we\u2019re experiencing a collective stroke.<\/p>\n<p>Update (9\/15\/25): But wait, there\u2019s more! The LVCVA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/lvcva-flushes-dozens-of-taxpayer-dollars-with-reimagined-rideshare-pickup-at-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">repainted the rideshare pickup area<\/a> at the airport and redecorated a hall where athletes walk.
