When Las Vegas fans pleasure themselves, they fantasize about one of three things: 1) Elizabeth Berkley in \u201cShowgirls.\u201d 2) Criss Angel\u2019s retirement announcement. 3) Roulette tables without the dreaded triple zero roulette.<\/p>\n

Today we are proud to help fulfill one of those fantasies: Wynn Las Vegas has dropped triple zero roulette.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s get into what else is happening at Wynn and what some recent changes could mean for Las Vegas visitors big picture.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s been a lot of conversation lately (and lots of media coverage) about the visitation dip in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

The causes of the lull are largely related to incompetent political leadership (causing economic uncertainty and negative sentiment whipped up by immigration and travel policies), but another element of the story that\u2019s come to the forefront: Changing perceptions of Las Vegas as a value destination.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been talking about this issue for years, of course, but it\u2019s come to a head, mostly due to lazy journalism and influencers looking for views and likes (\u201cVEgAs iS dEAd!\u201d).<\/p>\n

While whining about prices isn\u2019t behind the drop in visitation, it\u2019s an ongoing issue that the destination has to grapple with or the visitation molehill could become a mountain.<\/p>\n

Enter the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). The tourism agency recently met with leadership of all the Las Vegas casinos and impressed upon them the importance of trying to address the \u201cnickel-and-diming\u201d situation.<\/p>\n

While this smacks of \u201ctoo little, too late,\u201d we\u2019re told the LVCVA has been communicating these concerns to casinos for years. The casinos weren\u2019t suffering, so the pleas were pretty much ignored.<\/p>\n

Now, the numbers (including a 7% visitation decline in 2025) are giving the casinos a wake-up call. They aren\u2019t in panic mode, but they\u2019re definitely paying attention.<\/p>\n

Casinos across Las Vegas are looking for ways to make visitors feel valued again. Bellagio is giving out free Champagne to guests at check-in. Other MGM Resorts casinos are passing out free popsicles poolside. MGM Resorts dropped the price of its in-room bottled water by 40% (at a cost of $3 million to the company). The list of perks is growing by the day.<\/p>\n

MGM Resorts is leading the charge on \u201csurprise and delight\u201d to enhance the guest experience. New: Kids 10 and younger eat free at MGM Resorts buffets. (Related: Don\u2019t bring your kids to Vegas, thanks.) Random Cirque ticket giveaways to hotel guests also in the works.\u2026<\/p>\n

One of the biggest and most life-affirming changes to emerge from this effort is the removal of triple zero roulette at Wynn Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re not familiar with triple zero roulette, it\u2019s a variation of the game that gives the house an additional 2% edge (7.69%, compared to double zero\u2019s house advantage of 5.26%). Not a huge deal (most players care more about lower table minimums), but roulette enthusiasts lose their minds over what they view as a greedy casino money-grab. There\u2019s a new electronic roulette game with four zeroes. One outrage at a time.<\/p>\n

Like many of the issues visitors gripe about, it\u2019s not really about the numbers. It\u2019s about how Las Vegas makes them feel.<\/p>\n

Millionaires hate $40 resort fees and $20 parking fees. They just make visitors feel squeezed, used and unappreciated.<\/p>\n

A lot of the casino perks being rolled out at Las Vegas casinos are for value-seekers. That isn\u2019t really the Wynn Las Vegas demographic, which makes their recent decisions all the more interesting.<\/p>\n

Wynn is quietly implementing a number of other changes guests will notice and love. Most aren\u2019t dramatic, but cumulatively, they could give guests some warm fuzzies.<\/p>\n

Wynn Las Vegas is at the top of the Las Vegas food chain, so when this resort makes moves, others pay attention.<\/p>\n

Beyond the roulette rule change, Wynn is providing guests with free bottled water in their room, free parking for hotel guests and other strategic benefits we\u2019d love to see in every Las Vegas casino.<\/p>\n

The practice of disguising the 000 with a logo is common and a little gross. The practice started at Venetian in 2016<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Wynn isn\u2019t lowering its prices, per se, it\u2019s a luxury resort. But rejiggering its minibar pricing downward? Happening.<\/p>\n

Another example of listening to guests and providing value? Two snack bars now offer a homemade muffin and a large coffee for $10 (about what Starbucks charges). Nothing flashy, just a way of ensuring guests who visit Espresso at Encore and Caffe Teatro at Wynn aren\u2019t gouged unnecessarily. It\u2019s the little things.<\/p>\n

As one executive said, \u201cWynn is a premium experience. After a guest checks in, we do not force them to pay unfair prices for things that should be rationally priced. We\u2019re ensuring we are being true to our value proposition to guests.\u201d<\/p>\n

The message being lost in all the \u201cVegas gouge\u201d chatter is \u201cvalue\u201d isn\u2019t the same as \u201ccheap.\u201d<\/p>\n

This seems like a great time to once again share the fake ad we wrote back in 2018 about making Vegas a value again.<\/p>\n

We almost wish the LVCVA could afford us, but even if they could, we are not putting on pants to work anymore.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Are such changes at casinos temporary or permanent? Hard to say. When times are good, nobody\u2019s particularly inspired to offer guests freebies or discounts. Just ask any loyalty club member.<\/p>\n

From the looks of things, Las Vegas could be in for an extended period of flat or down visitation. That means casinos will be increasingly competitive, and while that\u2019s not viable for the destination\u2019s overall health, it\u2019s great for visitors.<\/p>\n

Kudos to Wynn for losing its triple zero roulette!<\/p>\n

Going after visitor pain points in a holistic way makes a lot of sense. Resort fees and parking fees aren\u2019t going away. They can\u2019t if we want casinos to stay afloat. But nuisance fees and unnecessarily high minibar prices can go.<\/p>\n

We love Las Vegas. We need to feel like it loves us back again.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
