And I wasn\u2019t the only one.<\/p>\n<p>After <em>Indiana Jones and the Great Circle<\/em> arrived last year, it became a common theme to hear how players had become obsessed with seeing all the marbled halls and mysterious chambers MachineGames had offered in its Indy adventure. You don\u2019t need a big set piece that takes place inside the Sistine Chapel for it be rewarding. You don\u2019t need to have finished the game to access it, nor will it spoil anything about the main game to play <em>before <\/em>you finish. And for those who have finished, you\u2019ll simply need to fast-travel back to The Vatican to begin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always had thoughts and ideas on how to make the current storyline and narrative deeper, and one opportunity to explore that was through adding a story DLC,\u201d explains Torvenius. \u201cWe want the player to learn more about the tantalizing adventure that Indy is on in <em>The Great Circle<\/em>. There are so many narrative layers to the game that we couldn\u2019t fully explore in the main campaign, but the story of <em>The Order of Giants<\/em> was something we really didn\u2019t want to miss out on. In this way, the DLC functions as it its own chapter, like a very complex side mission almost, but it also deepens the experience and the understanding of the main game campaign. This is, of course, too much for Indy to resist.<\/p>\n<p>Soon, you\u2019ll find your way to the building in question, sneak around or take down the Blackshirt guards surrounding it, and begin your adventure. And <em>The Order of Giants<\/em> doesn\u2019t mess around \u2013 you\u2019re almost immediately confronted with a gigantic new puzzle in an unexpectedly ornate hall, adorned with an enormous snake statue (cue some unhappy quipping from Indy).<\/p>\n<p>I won\u2019t spoil too much here, save to say that it\u2019s a multi-stage puzzle about directing water (and a new puzzle type when compared to the main game), and that it doesn\u2019t skimp on complexity. It\u2019s based on how far you\u2019ve progressed through the main story. So, the further players have progressed, the more difficult the DLC enemies will be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd like the main game, <em>The Order of Giants<\/em>\u2019 puzzles are designed to be accommodating to different players and their preferences: the overall difficulty of the puzzles can be adjusted as with the main game, and for players who just need a nudge, they can still use Indy\u2019s camera to get incremental hints.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But this isn\u2019t a purely puzzle-focused expansion. After I make my way through the water conundrum, I\u2019m plunged into a frankly enormous digsite hidden underground, and the game becomes an adventure platformer, as I use ancient machinery, crumbling masonry, and my trusty whip to get around.
