National Indian Gaming Commission (@NIGCgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NIGCgov\/status\/1951279597137363026?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 1, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe continued success of <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/puyallup-tribe-of-indians-and-gambling-commission-reach-tentative-agreement\/\">Indian gaming<\/a> is a testament to the strong tribal governance and the sound regulation that protects the integrity of the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The figure has been calculated from independently audited financial statements from 532 independently audited gaming operations owned by 243 federally recognized tribes across 29 states.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"national_indian_gaming_commission_nigc_oklahoma_city_and_washington_dc_reported_double-digit_growth-2\">National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC): Oklahoma City and Washington, DC reported double-digit growth<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The NIGC was created in 1988 with the passage of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and was \u2018enacted to support and promote tribal economic development, self-sufficiency, and strong tribal governments through the operation of gaming on Indian lands.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>As for the specific locations which have seen significant growth, there are two NIGC regions, Oklahoma City and Washington, D.C., which reported double-digit growth over the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese revenue numbers demonstrate the positive impacts of <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/tribal-leaders-prediction-markets-existential-threat-indian-gaming\/\">tribal gaming<\/a> and the essential role it plays supporting tribal sovereignty, job growth, infrastructure, education, and important social, health, and welfare programs in tribal communities \u2013 just to name a few,\u201d said Vice Chair Jeannie Hovland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNIGC remains committed to working with Tribes and their regulators to ensure the long-term integrity and success of Indian gaming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agency uses Gross Gaming Revenue as a key industry measure, defining it as the amount wagered minus winnings returned to players.
