As you progress, you\u2019ll unlock familiar faces like Hector, Steropes, and Agamemnon \u2013 each with a unique signature power, talent, starting stats, and a class-specific passive tree. Whether you enjoy magical chaos, structure-based control, or old-school brute force, you\u2019ll find a Survivor who fits.<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to experiment \u2013 some powers are safer early on, while others really shine in the late game (looking at you, Pythia). My advice? Focus on upgrading one power early. The stronger your foundation, the better chance you\u2019ll have of surviving the growing onslaught.<\/p>\n<p>At higher levels, you\u2019ll unlock powerful transformations in the Forge, which evolve your core abilities into something deadlier. Take Phalanx, for example: his venomous spikes stick around longer and spread across multiple rows, turning chokepoints into death traps.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"902\" height=\"509\" src=\"https:\/\/xboxwire.thesourcemediaassets.com\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/image-a0af2c0fd26625e0a933.gif\" alt=\"Achilles: Survivor screenshot\" class=\"wp-image-210536\"\/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treat Your Build Like a Phalanx.<\/h2>\n<p>Your main power is the spear at the front \u2013 strong, direct, and always advancing. But without coverage on the sides or back, one bad flank and you\u2019re done. If your main power is using close-range attacks, pair them with powers that control space around you or hit enemies from a distance. \u00a0You don\u2019t need a perfect set of upgrades \u2013 just one that holds the line.<\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019re struggling with frontal powers, like Prometheus\u2019 Fire Breath? Run in circles. Seriously. It might look ridiculous, but you\u2019ll gain great AoE coverage!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-fullsize\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1900\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/xboxwire.thesourcemediaassets.com\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/3-5b38c3894765d0ee6439-1900x1080.jpg\" alt=\"Achilles: Survivor screenshot\" class=\"wp-image-210532\"\/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Speaking of Foundations\u2026<\/h2>\n<p>Combat is only half the story. The other half? Building.<\/p>\n<p>During each run, you\u2019ll gather stone \u2013 a resource used to place structures across the map. Flame turrets, traps, healing shrines\u2026 and yes, a Trojan horse that spawns backup. Structures are vital for your survival. If you\u2019re feeling overwhelmed or had no luck with upgrades, they\u2019re here to bail you out.<\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite tactics? Luring enemies into a triangle of flame towers and enjoying the views. It\u2019s oddly peaceful.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of players forget that structures also grant passive bonuses<strong>. <\/strong>If you\u2019re running a status-focused hero like Tantalus, placing a few Ominous Visages can give a solid boost to your poison damage without you having to change anything else in your build. Keep an eye on map objectives (like \u201cGet X armour\u201d or \u201cGet Y amount of Luck\u201d \u2013 placing the right structure can complete a side task for you.<\/p>\n<p>And when in doubt? Especially on the first few maps, just spam flame turrets.<br \/>They will do <em>a lot<\/em> of heavy lifting for you.<\/p>\n<p><em>(P.S. It\u2019s a roguelite, so nothing is permanent (except maybe the pain). Stone runs out, and structures fall under the waves of enemies. You shouldn\u2019t be gone for ten years, but some runs might feel like it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start Your Afterlife Adventure<\/h2>\n<p>To sum up, what do Greek heroes do after death?<\/p>\n<p>They build flame towers. Dodge very unfriendly plants. Complain to the gods about exploding spiders, then ask them for more power to defeat said spiders.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it\u2019s not an easy feat: (after)life of a Greek hero.
