It\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s bet\u00adter (and fun\u00adnier) in build\u00ading on the adver\u00adsar\u00adi\u00adal rela\u00adtion\u00adships made in the first film; the best call\u00adback sees her phys\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly forc\u00ading Gem\u00adma to sit and lis\u00adten to her belt\u00ading out an insuf\u00adfer\u00adable radio song after a\u00a0pep talk.\u00a0<\/p>\n It\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s bet\u00adter still when the com\u00ade\u00addy cross\u00ades with sin\u00adcere ques\u00adtions about M3<\/span>GAN<\/span>\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s per\u00adson\u00adhood, and that she phy\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly feels this believ\u00adable is a\u00a0cred\u00adit to the film\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s ani\u00adma\u00adtron\u00adics team. It\u2019s less charm\u00ading, how\u00adev\u00ader, when M3<\/span>GAN<\/span> speaks like Ben\u00adder from Futu\u00adra\u00adma<\/i> (\u200b\u201c<\/span><\/span>Alright, meat sacks\u201d), or worse, a\u00a0Dead\u00adpool-esque fig\u00adure who yells things like, \u200b\u201c<\/span>H<\/span>old on to your vagi\u00adnas!\u201d before reck\u00adless\u00adly dri\u00adving a\u00a0supercar.<\/p>\n When John\u00adstone\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s not aggres\u00adsive\u00adly expand\u00ading M3<\/span>GAN<\/span><\/i> lore, there\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s some align\u00adment between M3<\/span>GAN<\/span>\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s (mis\u00adguid\u00aded and amus\u00ading\u00adly mor\u00adbid) attempts at win\u00adning over her human com\u00adpan\u00adions, and M3<\/span>GAN<\/span> 2<\/span>.0<\/span><\/i>\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s own charm offen\u00adsive. In all of its quips and sur\u00adpris\u00ading\u00adly ener\u00adgetic action, it\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s riff\u00ading on Mis\u00adsion Impos\u00adsi\u00adble<\/i> and Ter\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtor 2<\/span><\/i> plot\u00adting and it\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s active\u00adly try\u00ading to be a\u00a0crowd pleas\u00ader. But the film\u00admak\u00ader some\u00adtimes overex\u00adtends: some of the fights do become a\u00a0lit\u00adtle numb\u00ading after a\u00a0while.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sim\u00adi\u00adlar\u00adly, for a\u00a0sequel where the main char\u00adac\u00adter is hound\u00aded by the mis\u00adtakes of the their past, M3<\/span>GAN<\/span> 2<\/span>.0<\/span><\/i> runs back a\u00a0few of the same stick\u00ading points\u2009\u2014\u2009name\u00adly some labo\u00adri\u00adous pac\u00ading which, here, is exac\u00ader\u00adbat\u00aded by the sheer amount of sto\u00adry there is. It\u200b\u2019<\/span><\/span>s hard not to wish for a\u00a0lit\u00adtle more econ\u00ado\u00admy, espe\u00adcial\u00adly when there are so many moments where the appeal of a\u00a0sil\u00adli\u00ader fol\u00adlow-up feel clear\u00ader. Despite occa\u00adsion\u00adal\u00adly indulging its worse instincts, there\u2019s still a\u00a0sur\u00adpris\u00ading amount of fun to be had with M3<\/span>GAN<\/span> 2<\/span>.0<\/span><\/i> \u2013 a\u00a0big\u00adger and fun\u00adnier sequel which could stand to pull back on both of those elements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
