We do have Q1 growth deviation from national trend from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/weeklystateindexes\/dashboard\">Baumeister, Leon-Leiva and Sims<\/a> weekly state level economic conditions index:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/econbrowser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/weci_uscany2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-56918\" src=\"https:\/\/econbrowser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/weci_uscany2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1036\" height=\"604\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Figure 2:<\/strong> Weekly Economic State-Level Conditions Index for US (blue),\u00a0 California (tan), NY (green), % deviation from national trend. Source <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/weeklystateindexes\/dashboard\">WECI<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So for Q1, California GDP growth is projected to be approaching national trend growth (where California trend is above US trend), and NY is already dipping below.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E8Izmky3Uwg\">UCLA Andersen Forecast<\/a> is for approximately zero NFP employment growth for 2025. The <a href=\"https:\/\/dof.ca.gov\/forecasting\/economics\/economic-forecasts-u-s-and-california\/\">CA Department of Finance<\/a> official forecast is for 0.6% (0.2%) annualized civilian employment growth in 2025Q1 (2025Q2), and 0.2% (0.4%) annualized NFP growth.<\/p>\n<p>With these continued ICE raids and mass removals and deportations, the administration&#8217;s objective of sowing confusion and fear is likely working. With this comes policy uncertainty.
