On June 3, Bethesda Game Studios released Gone Fission, a free <em>Fallout 76<\/em> update available now for all players, bringing a highly anticipated activity to Appalachia: Fishing!\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Fallout 76: Gone Fission Launch Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2025\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q4MOsxue4mI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>This peaceful wasteland activity lets players catch fish all over Appalachia. Chill out and swap stories of the apocalypse with your friends at your favorite radioactive body of water in any region of the map and catch more than 30 types of fish. Fish is a great source of nutrition. Once you\u2019ve learned to fish, you\u2019ll learn how to cook and eat everything you catch with a whole bunch of Cooking Station recipes to collect.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gone Fission also includes a new location in the Mire region of Appalachia called Fisherman\u2019s Rest. There, players will encounter a trio of unusual characters: the being known only as The Fisherman; the strangely vacant-eyed Captain Raymond Clark; and Linda Lee, an enormous but gentle hermit crab who has taken up residence, and is named after, Captain Clark\u2019s wrecked fishing boat. These fascinating new NPCs will introduce players to a new questline, \u201cCasting Off,\u201d through which they can acquire their first fishing rod. Some fish are even dubbed Local Legends and can only be caught in very specific areas of Appalachia.
