To celebrate Disaronno\u2019s 500-year anniversary*, we\u2019ve teamed up with the iconic Italian liqueur makers to bring you an extra special cinematic treat: a two-month celebration of Italian screen style, inspired by the timeless spirit of la dolce vita<\/em>.<\/p>\n Honouring half a millennium(!) of tradition and innovation, our \u2018La Dolce Vita\u2019 season \u2013 curated in partnership with Disaronno \u2013 kicks off in style this June with a deep dive into four of our favourite Italian films, spanning from the 1960s to today. Each one captures the essence of this age-old Italian philosophy, which is all about living well, appreciating beauty, and savouring every moment.<\/p>\n Then, on the weekend of 4-5 July, we\u2019re taking over London\u2019s historic Regent Street Cinema for two nights of cinema, cocktails, and a true taste of Italy. Join us on Friday 4 July for a rare screening of Federico Fellini\u2019s 1963 masterpiece 8\u00bd<\/em>, starring Marcello Mastroianni \u2013 Italy\u2019s pre-eminent leading man during the \u201960s \u2013 in one of his best-loved roles.<\/p>\n The following night, you can catch Michelangelo Antonioni\u2019s atmospheric 1960 relationship drama La Notte<\/em> on the big screen, featuring the impossibly glamorous m\u00e9nage \u00e0 trois<\/em> of Mastroianni, Jeanne Moreau and Monica Vitti. Each screening will be accompanied by an introduction and an on-stage Q&A with an Italian film expert. We\u2019ll also be serving up a delicious selection of Disaronno-based cocktails.<\/p>\n The legend of Disaronno can be traced back to the most famous creative period in Italian history: the Renaissance. In 1525, the artist Bernardino Luini, a student of Leonardo da Vinci, was commissioned to decorate the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Miracles in Saronno. For the Madonna in one of his paintings, \u2018The Adoration of the Magi\u2019, he chose a local innkeeper as his model. In appreciation, she presented him with a special gift: a flask filled with a fragrant, delicate, amber-coloured liqueur.<\/p>\n Since those humble origins, Disaronno has grown into the world\u2019s favourite amaretto liqueur, famed for its unique aroma and sweet character \u2013 not to mention its iconic \u201csquare cap\u201d bottle, created in the 1970s by a master Venetian glassmaker.
