But Portnoy insisted the narrative was baseless and welcomed the chance to be proven wrong.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe (WNBA) can\u2019t get out of their own way,\u201d Portnoy wrote on X. \u201cTo issue a statement in response to trolls is a joke. It makes (Fever) fans look bad for no reason. It\u2019s like they won\u2019t be happy till they kill the golden goose. If I\u2019m wrong I\u2019ll apologize and eat my words but I\u2019m 100% right.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He also posted a video where he emphasized that he heard no racist remarks during the game.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI think they&#8217;re just trolls \u2014 they&#8217;re just people who hate Caitlin Clark,\u201d he said. \u201cThey&#8217;re trolls, and they&#8217;re like, \u2018Of course the Indiana Fever are making like monkey sounds and other racist sounds at Angel Reese,\u2019 which is total garbage, totally made up.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was at the game. If there was somebody being racist or saying s**t, obviously, boot him, never let him back. I would be stunned beyond belief if that was the case this crowd. I&#8217;ve sat on the wood for a million games, been in a million environments. The crowd at the Fever game: little girls, families, ladies. Nice crowd.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Fever&#8217;s Caitlin Clark, Sky&#8217;s Angel Reese downplay foul<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the heated moment, both Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese dismissed the incident as routine, with Reese labeling it a \u201cbasketball play\u201d that officials \u201cgot right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark also defended her actions, stating there was no ill intent.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt was just a good play on the basketball,\u201d she said. \u201cI&#8217;m not sure what the ref saw to upgrade it, and that&#8217;s up to their discretion. \u2026 I wasn&#8217;t trying to do anything malicious.
