In recent months, multiple outlets and social media users have reported receiving scam notifications on their phones, claiming to be toll charges.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-3\">Per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/unpaid-toll-text-scam\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">CBS News<\/a>, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warned the nation that texts they\u2019re receiving over supposed unpaid tolls are \u201cprobably\u201d scams.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-4\">\u201cWhether you\u2019ve driven through a toll recently or not, you might\u2019ve gotten a text saying you owe money for unpaid tolls. It\u2019s probably a scam,\u201d the FTC noted in its alert. \u201cScammers are pretending to be tolling agencies from coast to coast and sending texts demanding money.\u00a0Not only is the scammer trying to steal your money, but if you click the link, they could get your personal info (like your driver\u2019s license number) \u2014 and even steal your identity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-5\">Keep reading to learn more about the scam messages and what to do if you receive one.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u26a0\ufe0fSCAM ALERT: Has anyone else gotten this text numerous times this week? If you receive a text or an email asking for personally identifiable details, you should not provide that information.<\/p>\n<h2>What Do the Roll Road Scam Texts Look Like?<\/h2>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-9\">The scam texts vary in appearance, but New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Florida, Indianapolis, Pennsylvania and other states have reported drivers receiving messages claiming that they owed toll fees. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2025\/02\/22\/scam-text-unpaid-tolls-ftc-fbi-warning-what-do\/79628417007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\"><em>USAToday<\/em><\/a>, which reported that some of its staff got these texts as well, one of the messages people have received read, \u201cPay your FastTrak Lane tolls by February 13, 2025. To avoid a fine and keep your license, you can pay at <a href=\"https:\/\/ezdrivema.com-xlk.vip\/i\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/ezdrivema.com-xlk.vip\/i\/<\/a>. (Please reply Y, then exit the text message and open it again to activate the link, or copy the link into your Safari browser and open it).\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-10\">Another message that some Florida residents received read, \u201cPlease pay your toll in Florida by January 21, 2025. In order to avoid excessive late fees and potential legal action on statements, please pay your tolls in time. Thank you for your cooperation and wish you a pleasant holiday. <a href=\"https:\/\/sunpass.com-8If5.sbs\/us\/,\u201d\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/sunpass.com-8If5.sbs\/us\/,\u201d<\/a> according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<h2>Can I Block the Toll Road Scams?<\/h2>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-11\">People can block any phone number that reaches out to their phone.
