The Theranos founder, who is currently serving a reduced 9-year prison sentence (down from 11 years and 3 months), gave a rare interview from Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, where she detailed her prison schedule and how life behind bars is not meant for humans.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-3\">\u201cHuman beings are not made to be in cells,\u201d Holmes said to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/elizabeth-holmes-breaks-her-silence-in-first-interview-from-prison-it-s-been-hell-and-torture-exclusive-8789737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\"><em>PEOPLE<\/em><\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday, February 12. \u201cIt goes so far beyond understanding. I\u2019m trying really hard not to tear up right now. I\u2019m trying to grow, as every moment matters. And if one person\u2019s life can be touched trying to help them in a crisis, it matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-4\">Two years ago, in an attempt to appeal her case, her defense team revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2023\/02\/28\/elizabeth-holmes-gives-birth-2nd-child-asks-for-prison-delay\/\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">her second child<\/a> was privately born, in a motion filed in federal court, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/elizabeth-holmes-second-child-prison-sentence-delay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">CBS News<\/a>. The team presented the new child as a reason she shouldn\u2019t be imprisoned while she appealed her conviction, but the request was not granted.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-5\">\u201cIt kills me to put my family through pain the way I do,\u201d Holmes added. \u201cBut when I look back on my life, and these angels that have come into it, I can get through anything. He was born in July 2021, two years after the lovebirds were married in a private ceremony. She announced the pregnancy in March 2021 and since she was already arrested for fraud at that point, the pregnancy caused the trial to be delayed, via\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Business\/theranos-founder-elizabeth-holmes-welcomes-1st-child-partner\/story?id=79298331\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">ABC News<\/a>. <\/em>The trial had also been pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but once it started after Elizabeth gave birth, the judge allowed a quiet room on the premises that allowed the new mom to spend time with her son during breaks.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-8\">Amid her pregnancy news, biotech professional, <strong>Anne Kopf-Sill<\/strong>, admitted she thought she purposely started a family to get a lighter <a href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2022\/11\/18\/elizabeth-holmes-sentenced-prison-fraud\/\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">prison sentence<\/a>. \u201cI think she is hoping to get a lighter sentence,\u201dshe told <em><a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.kron4.com\/elizabeth-holmes-trial\/elizabeth-holmes-appears-pregnant-makes-last-ditch-attempt-to-avoid-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-ylk=\"slk:KRON4\" data-rapid_p=\"44\" data-v9y=\"1\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">KRON4<\/a>.<\/em> \u201cEveryone feels sorry for children that have to grow up without both parents.
