Football fans aren\u2019t the only people who will be tuning in<\/a> for the 2025 Super Bowl<\/a> on Sunday, February 9. Anyone who appreciates good commercials<\/a>, and anyone who looks forward to the annual musical extravaganza that is the Super Bowl halftime show<\/a> will also undoubtedly be tuning in to see rapper Kendrick Lamar<\/strong><\/a> headline.<\/p>\n

\u201cRap music is still the most impactful genre to date,\u201d Kendrick said in a statement addressing his upcoming performance. \u201cAnd I\u2019ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.\u201d More recently, he delved into why he sees rap as \u201cart.\u201d \u201cIt puts the culture on the forefront where it needs to be, and not minimized to just a catchy song or verse,\u201d he told Apple Music during the Super Bowl halftime show press conference on February 6, per ABC News<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThis is a true art form. So to represent it on this type of stage is everything that I\u2019ve worked for and everything that I believe in as far the culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Grammy winner<\/a> also admitted to being surprised at being tapped to headline the iconic halftime show, previously helmed by legends including Britney Spears<\/strong><\/a>, Janet Jackson<\/strong><\/a>, Jennifer Lopez<\/strong><\/a>, and Usher<\/strong><\/a>, among many others. \u201cI wasn\u2019t thinking \u2019bout no Super Bowl,\u201d he said when asked if he\u2019d ever thought it would be a possibility. \u201cThe passion I have now is still the passion I had then, and I think that carried on to the Super Bowl.\u201d Special guest SZA <\/strong><\/a>was recently announced to be joining Kendrick for the mid-game show.<\/p>\n
