Who Is Apple Cider Vinegar Based On?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The miniseries centers on Belle Gibson<\/a><\/strong>, a former Australian wellness influencer and convicted scammer. Once hailed as a wellness guru, Gibson falsely claimed to have cured cancer through diet, exercise, and alternative medicine.<\/p>\n

She fabricated stories about living with multiple types of cancer, including malignant brain, kidney, and blood cancer. Gibson went on to build a fitness and diet empire through her Instagram account, @healing_belle, and by launching an app and a book, both titled The Whole Pantry<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Eventually, in 2015, Gibson\u2019s wellness empire collapsed after Australian journalists Beau Donelly<\/strong> and Nick Toscano<\/strong> exposed her lies about donating business profits to multiple charities.\u00a0Shortly after, it was revealed that Gibson had also lied about her age and about having cancer entirely.<\/p>\n

In 2017, Gibson was hit with more than $400,000 in fines, per\u00a0PEOPLE<\/em><\/a>. She has reportedly stayed under the raider ever since, even after law enforcement raided her home.<\/p>\n

Who Portrays Belle Gibson in the Miniseries?<\/h2>\n

Actress\u00a0Kaitlyn Dever<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>plays the role of Gibson. Dever is recognized for roles in a slew of films and miniseries, such as\u00a0Dopesick, Rosaline, No One Will Save You<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0season 2 of\u00a0The Last of Us<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
