Nobody has quite so effectively warned about the perils of AI as the life-sized, baby-faced doll M3GAN. The 2023 horror\/comedy smash hit introduced fans to a whole new world of fear \u2014 one that takes only allowing technology into your home and life.<\/a> Now, M3GAN<\/em><\/a> is a phenomenon, having become one of Halloween\u2019s most popular costume choices and already generating a sequel.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what we know so far about M3GAN 2.0<\/em>, including the release date, trailer, cast, and more.<\/p>\n

What Is \u2018M3GAN\u2019 About?<\/h2>\n

The original M3GAN<\/em>, brought to you by horror genius James Wan <\/strong>(Malignant, The Conjuring<\/em> franchise),\u00a0is the tale of bereaved 8-year-old Cady (Violet McGraw<\/strong>) whose parents have been killed in a car accident. Her aunt Gemma, a toy company roboticist (Allison Williams<\/strong>), who has been charged with her care, happens to have in her arsenal of childcare tools a prototype doll called M3gan. She pairs the creepy AI doll with Cady in hopes that it will provide her with some wholesome company. The decision, however, has dire consequences, as M3gan spins out of control as she gains more and more access to Gemma and Cady\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

According to PEOPLE<\/em><\/a>, an official synopsis for the sequel reveals that Cady is now 14 and rebelling against her aunt\u2019s \u201coverprotective rules.\u201d \u201cUnbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno<\/strong>), the ultimate killer infiltration spy,\u201d the synopsis continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as Amelia\u2019s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN (Amie Donald<\/strong>, voiced by Jenna Davis<\/strong>) and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I bitch is about to meet her match.\u201d<\/p>\n
