Jim Acosta<\/strong><\/a>, chief domestic correspondent at iconic cable network CNN<\/em><\/a>, announced today that he\u2019ll no longer work<\/a> for them. \u201cJim has had a long, distinguished<\/a> nearly 20-year career at CNN<\/em>, with a track record of standing up to authority, for the first amendment and for our journalistic freedoms,\u201d read a statement from the network, per the New York Post<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWe want to thank him for the dedication and commitment he\u2019s brought to his reporting and wish him the very best in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Acosta admitted during his on-air announcement that he was leaving the network<\/a> because his 10 a.m. show timeslot was transferred to another show, and he was offered a 12 a.m. timeslot instead. \u201cYou may have seen some reports about me and this show and after giving all of this some careful consideration, and weighing an alternative timeslot CNN<\/em> offered me, I have decided to move on,\u201d he told viewers on January 28, per the New York Post<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Variety<\/em><\/a>, a source says Acosta may launch his own \u201cdigital subscription product\u201d featuring his own interviews and \u201caccountability reporting,\u201d something he believes strongly in. \u00a0\u201cI have always believed it\u2019s the job of the press to hold power to account,\u201d he said in during his on-air farewell announcement via CNN.<\/em> \u201cI have always tried to do that here at CNN.\u00a0<\/em>I plan on doing all of that in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
