O\u2019Donnell is best known for being the anchor of CBS Evening News<\/em> and co-anchor of CBS This Morning<\/em>. She was also Chief White House Correspondent for the network and a substitute host on Face the Nation<\/i>. The Washington, D.C. native attended Georgetown, where she received a bachelor\u2019s degree in philosophy and a master\u2019s in liberal studies.<\/p>\n

In a statement shared by CBS<\/em> last summer, Norah said she\u2019s simply ready to move on.\u00a0\u201cI have spent 12 years in the anchor chair here at CBS News<\/em>, connected to a daily broadcast and the rigors of a relentless news cycle,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s time to do something different. In its own statement, CBS <\/em>pointed out that Norah would not be leaving the network, despite stepping away from CBS Evening News. <\/em>She will instead transition to the role of senior correspondent with the network. \u201cAfter five years in the anchor chair, @NorahODonnell signs off from the CBS Evening News<\/em> tonight,\u201d the show said in a tweet<\/a> on Thursday, January 23, 2025. \u201cHer reporting has not only made history, but also resonated deeply with viewers across the nation.
