On December 19, 2024, the longtime host announced his departure<\/a> from the network, cryptically saying that he\u2019d been planning it for \u201csome time\u201d and that it \u201cseemed like a good time\u201d to leave. \u201cNeil Cavuto\u2019s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we\u2019re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media,\u201d a statement released by the conservative network read. \u201cHis programs have defined business, news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who is Neil Cavuto?<\/h2>\n

Cavuto is best known for his lengthy tenure at Fox News. He\u2019s a news anchor, business journalist, executive, and commentator who has helmed Cavuto Live, Your World With Neil Cavuto,<\/em> and Fox News Business\u2019s Cavuto Coast to Coast<\/em>. He was born in Long Island, and previously worked as a reporter and anchor for CNBC. According to NJ.com<\/em><\/a>, he\u2019s a husband to wife Mary Fulling<\/strong> and a father of three. The family resides in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Why Did Neil Cavuto Leave Fox News?<\/h2>\n

Cavuto has not given a definitive reason for his unexpected departure from Fox News. He did, however, address the fact that he\u2019s been at the network for quite some time.\u00a0\u201cNow, some of you might be thinking, \u2018Well, Neil, it\u2019s about time!\u2019 After all, I\u2019ve been doing this for nearly three decades here,\u201d he quipped. Still, he said, he\u2019s not leaving the industry. \u201cYou know, there are people working with me now who weren\u2019t even born when I started at Fox \u2014 that\u2019s how old I am,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut I\u2019m not leaving journalism, I\u2019m just leaving here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neil added that the network had offered him a \u201cvery generous opportunity\u201d to stay. However, he said he\u2019s also battled health problems<\/a> in recent years that resulted in \u201ca day or two here and there battling everything from multiple sclerosis and COVID to countless infections, even open-heart surgery.\u201d While he admitted his health had presented challenge, he also confessed he felt \u201clucky\u201d to have had the high-profile gig.<\/p>\n

\u201cI might\u2019ve been unlucky in health but very lucky for the support I got here and the things I got to do here because I got to do what I love to do \u2014 report the news,\u201d he explained during his announcement. \u201cNot shout the news. Not blast the news. Not \u2014 well, call names, just call balls and strikes, following the news, hold truth to power and fairness to all. That\u2019s it, that\u2019s me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where Is Neil Cavuto Going Next?<\/h2>\n

As mentioned above, Cavuto said in his announcement that he\u2019s not leaving journalism. However, as of the date of this publication, he has not yet announced where he might land<\/a> next. Former colleague Chris Wallace<\/strong><\/a>, also of Fox News, went to CNN for two years after departing Fox News, so there is some speculation Cavuto could do the same.<\/p>\n
