TikTok<\/a> came back just hours after it went down amid the United States\u2019 governmental ban<\/a>. Users and influencers initially took to social media to express their frustration over the shutdown. \u201cRIP TikTok\u201d memes flooded the internet quickly shortly after the app went dark at around 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. January 18, 2025. The ban was set to take effect the next day. So, how did TikTok come back?<\/p>\n

Many are speculating that the reason for TikTok\u2019s restoration could be that another company bought the app or that Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> was involved.<\/p>\n

Shortly after TikTok users\u2019 apps went down, the platform released a statement to Americans, which read, \u201cSorry, TikTok isn\u2019t available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can\u2019t use TikTok for now. Why Was TikTok Banned?<\/h2>\n

TikTok was banned by the U.S. government due to security concerns<\/a>. Lawmakers raised concerns that China\u2019s government could have accessed and stolen Americans\u2019 data through the app from its owner, a company named ByteDance that is headquartered in Beijing.<\/p>\n
