The game\u2019s title is a play on Josh\u2019s last name, Wardle. According to The Verge<\/a>, Josh revealed he had originally considered calling the game \u201cMr. Bugs\u2019 Wordy Nugz.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is true: I was going to call \u2018Wordle,\u2019 Mr. Bugs\u2019 Wordy Nugz,\u201d he previously shared during an on-stage presentation. \u201cHad I called the game Mr. Bugs, I like to think it would not have been successful.\u201d<\/p>\n

While creating the prototype for Wordle<\/em>, Josh only showed it to close friends and family.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was trying to do something that was authentic to me. I was trying to build something for someone that I loved,\u201d Josh explained. \u201cIt just so happened a bunch of other people loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh advised other innovators to follow their own paths instead of trying to emulate an invention like this. He advised, \u201cDon\u2019t try to make \u2018Wordle.\u2019 Make the thing that you\u2019re passionate about that is meaningful to you. And then everything else will follow from that.\u201d<\/p>\n
