It\u2019s the end of an era.\u00a0Hoda Kotb<\/a><\/strong>, 60, is abdicating the job<\/a> that made her a household name \u2014 co-anchor of NBC mainstay the TODAY<\/em><\/a> show. Per NBC<\/em><\/a>, she made the announcement back on September 26, 2024. In emotional comments at the time, she explained that \u201cit was such a monumental\u00a0<\/i>moment for me when I\u00a0turned 60 years\u00a0<\/i>old, because I started thinking about that decade,\u201d she said. \u201cLike, what does that decade mean, what does it hold and what\u2019s it going to have for me? And I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and to try something new.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why Is Hoda Kotb Leaving TODAY?<\/h2>\n

According to TODAY<\/em><\/a>, Kotb felt she\u2019d reached her career \u201cpeak,\u201d and indicated a desire to spend more time with her two daughters<\/a>. \u201cI knew that that was the best it was going to be,\u201d she said in an interview with the show. \u201cI was on top of the mountain, and I was looking out, and I said, \u2018God, this is amazing.’\u201d But, she says, it \u201cunderscored\u201d a deep question. \u201c\u2026a week or so before, my little girl Hope<\/strong> was climbing a tree, and she loves this tree, and she was at the top,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd so, I said, \u2018Look at you. You\u2019re on top of that tree.\u2019 I go, \u2018What are you going to do \u2014 what are you going to do now?’\u201d Hoda continued, \u201cShe goes, \u2018I guess I\u2019ll find a different tree.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Kotb says at that point she \u201ckind of knew that it was time to try something different, and that means, you know, having my kids ride sidecar next to me more often than they have been.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who Is Replacing Hoda on TODAY?<\/h2>\n

According to the New York Post<\/em><\/a>, broadcast journalist Craig Melvin<\/strong> will be taking over Kotb\u2019s role. A permanent co-host for TODAY With Hoda & Jenna<\/em> has not yet been announced. Rotating guest hosts will fill in the blanks until a decision has been made.<\/p>\n

When Is Hoda Kotb\u2019s Last Day on TODAY?<\/h2>\n

According to TODAY<\/em><\/a>, Hoda\u2019s last day as a co-anchor of the show, and co-host of TODAY With Hoda and Jenna<\/em> will be Friday, January 10, 2025. Jenna Bush Hager<\/strong><\/a> announced on December 18 that a week of celebrations would precede Kotb\u2019s departure. \u201cWe are having a Hoda-bration for Hoda\u2019s final show, and guess what? We\u2019re going to have a live audience,\u201d she gushed at the time.<\/p>\n
