I\u2019m Still Here <\/em>scored a major victory at last night\u2019s Golden Globe Awards<\/a>. Star Fernanda Torres<\/strong>, 59, took home the coveted trophy for best dramatic actress \u2014 one of the last and most high-profile of the evening. In her acceptance speech, the actress acknowledged her competitors<\/a> in the category, including Pamela Anderson<\/strong>, Angelina Jolie<\/strong><\/a>, Nicole Kidman<\/strong>, Tilda Swinton<\/strong>, and Kate Winslet<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy god, I didn\u2019t prepare anything because I was late already,\u201d she exclaimed, per the Independent<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd this is such an amazing year for female performances. There are so many actresses here who I admire so much.\u201d She went on to honor her mother, Fernanda Montenegro<\/strong>, who also appears in the film. \u201cShe was here 25 years ago,\u201d Torres said, recalling her mother\u2019s nomination in the same category in 1999 for Central Station<\/em>. \u201cAnd this is proof that art can endure through life, even in difficult moments like this amazing story.\u201d She continued,\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s something that is happening now in the world with so much fear. And this is a film that helped us to think how to survive in tough times like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
