This is the lowering of your body during a squat.<\/p>\n<p>The middle part of the movement is called a static contraction\u2026 which is the slight pause at the bottom of the squat. Some people mistakenly skip this toning phase altogether.<\/p>\n<p>And the last part of a movement is called the concentric contraction\u2026 which is when you return to the starting position of the squat.<\/p>\n<p>Most people perform their repetitions too fast, trying to finish their reps as quickly as possible\u2026 but this is<br \/>\n      killing your results\u2026 (9)<\/p>\n<p>By not giving your muscles the stimulus they need to tone\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Yet you don\u2019t want to go too slow either\u2026 because if you perform your repetitions too slow it\u2019s actually WORSE for shaping lean muscle than going too fast.
