Jay-Z<\/strong><\/a> (real name: Shawn Carter) was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 alongside Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs<\/strong><\/a> in a lawsuit filed on December 8, 2024. The lawsuit was originally filed in October 2024, but Jay-Z was not named in the initial filing by attorney Tony Buzbee<\/strong>. Jay-Z has vehemently denied the allegations against him.<\/p>\n

What Did Jay-Z Allegedly Do?<\/h2>\n

According to the lawsuit, the accuser identified as \u201cJane Doe\u201d alleged that she was assaulted by Combs<\/a> and Carter at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party<\/a> in 2000. At the time, Doe claimed that she tried to get into various VMAs after-parties<\/a> by approaching limo drivers, and one of them claimed to work for Combs. The driver allegedly told Doe she \u201cfit what Diddy was looking for\u201d and invited her to a party. Upon picking her up, the driver brought Doe to a white house, where she allegedly had to sign a document that was possibly a non-disclosure agreement, the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit further describes the party as a drug-filled and celebrity-packed event. Doe claimed she was offered a drink that made her feel \u201cwoozy\u201d and \u201clight-headed,\u201d so she went to a room to rest. Shortly thereafter, Combs and Carter allegedly entered the room, and Diddy said to Doe, \u201cYou are ready to party!\u201d Jay-Z then allegedly removed Doe\u2019s clothes, held her down and raped her while Combs looked on with an unidentified female celebrity, the lawsuit claims. In the suit, Doe also claimed that Combs raped her while Carter and the unnamed woman watched.<\/p>\n

After the alleged assault, Doe said that she \u201cgrabbed her clothes\u201d and went to a nearby gas station to call her father.<\/p>\n

According to multiple outlets, Jay-Z dated Blu Cantrell<\/strong> in the early 2000s. They have not publicly commented on their rumored relationship or breakup.<\/p>\n

Jay-Z and his wife, Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>, met between 1999 and 2000 when she was 18 years old. They collaborated on the song \u201c03 Bonnie & Clyde.\u201d They got married in 2008 and welcomed three children<\/a> throughout their marriage.<\/p>\n

Jay-Z\u2019s Statement About the Lawsuit<\/h2>\n

In response to the lawsuit, Jay-Z issued a statement on Dec. 13, which was obtained by NBC News<\/a>, calling the allegations \u201cheinous\u201d and \u201cidiotic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!\u201d his statement read. \u201cWhomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.\u00a0You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all \u2018celebrities\u2019 are the same. I\u2019m not from your world. I\u2019m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jay-Z added that he was raised with \u201cvery strict codes of honor,\u201d noting, \u201cWe don\u2019t play these types of games. \u2026 We protect children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Toward the end of his statement, Jay-Z pointed out that the \u201conly heartbreak\u201d from this lawsuit is \u201cfor [his] family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people,\u201d he added. \u201cI mourn yet another loss of innocence. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jay-Z\u2019s lawyers filed a motion earlier this month asking the judge to deny the plaintiff\u2019s request to remain anonymous, calling for either her identity to be disclosed or the suit to be dismissed. However, the motion has now been denied by a judge in New York.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres<\/strong> ruled that the woman can remain anonymous for now, although she noted that she may revisit her decision in the future. The judge also condemned Jay-Z\u2019s legal team for their aggressive tactics.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarter\u2019s lawyer\u2019s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client,\u201d Judge Torres wrote in the court order, adding that their actions \u201cwill not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it.\u201d<\/p>\n
