Since becoming a Supreme Court Justice, Jackson is reportedly the most talkative of all the nine Justices on the bench, according to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotusblog.com\/2022\/12\/supreme-court-new-bench-with-ketanji-brown-jackson-justices-speaking-more-oral-arguments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">SCOTUSBlog<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-3\">Ketanji was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/potus\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\" rel=\"noopener\">President<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/joe-biden\/\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\"><strong>Joe Biden\u2019s <\/strong><\/a>Supreme Court nominee to replace Justice\u00a0<strong>Stephen Breyer. <\/strong>Besides her historic position, she\u2019s also a loving mom. She shares two daughters with her husband <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/feature\/ketanji-brown-jackson-husband-patrick-4682473\/\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">Patrick G. Jackson<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>Throughout the entire process, she has been sure to let her kids know how much they mean to her. \u201cYou are the light of my life. Please know that whatever title I may hold or whatever job I may have, I will still be your mom. The girls were also acknowledged (along with their dad Patrick G. Jackson) by Chief Justice <strong>John Roberts,\u00a0<\/strong>before he gave their mom the oaths. \u201cI would like to recognize Dr. Patrick Jackson, who is here, her husband, and her daughters Talia and Leila,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-5\">During the first day of her Supreme Court confirmation hearing on March 22, she spoke directly to her daughters (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/03\/22\/politics\/who-is-ketanji-brown-jackson-family\/index.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\"><em>CNN<\/em><\/a>). \u201cGirls, I know it has not been easy as I have tried to navigate the challenges of juggling my career and motherhood,\u201d she said lovingly. \u201cAnd I fully admit that I did not always get the balance right. At 23 years old, Talia is currently in college but was able to take time to support her mother as she was present on the first day of Kentaji\u2019s Supreme Court confirmation hearing. She kept it classy wearing a black floral print dress as she watched her mother speak. Ketanji\u2019s address in today\u2019s hearing wasn\u2019t the first time she has directly addressed being a parent to her two girls.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-7\">Ketanji spoke at the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jXFerWhSckA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">35th Edith House Lecture<\/a> in 2017 where she not only called her daughters \u201csassy sisters\u201d but opened up with the struggles she had raising her eldest, Talia, while starting a new job at a form.\u00a0 \u201cThe firm was very supportive, but I don\u2019t think it is possible to overstate the degree of difficulty that many young women and especially new mothers face in the law firm context,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe hours are long. The workflow is unpredictable. You have little control over your time and your schedule, and you start to feel as though the demands of the billable hour are constantly in conflict with the needs of your children and your family responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Leila Jackson<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4683290\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4683290\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4683290\" src=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Ketanji-Brown-Jackson-Kids-SS-embed-3.jpg?w=620&amp;resize=620%2C413\" alt=\"Ketanji Brown Jackson, Patrick G. At just 19 years old, she has proved that she has plenty of ambition. She rocked a lavender suit as she sat beside her big sister during their mom\u2019s hearing. A photo of her at her mom\u2019s confirmation hearings went viral in 2022, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teenvogue.com\/story\/ketanji-brown-jackson-daughter-photo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\"><em>Teen Vogue<\/em><\/a>. The teenager has envisioned this day for a long time now. When she was 11 years old, she wrote a letter to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/president-barack-obama\/\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">Barack Obama<\/a>,<\/strong> as per <em><a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/news\/ketanji-brown-jackson-children-daughters-talia-leila\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">Heavy<\/a>, <\/em>requesting that \u201cwhile you are considering judges to fill Justice Scalia\u2019s seat on the Supreme Court, I would like to add my mother Ketanji Brown Jackson of the district court to the list.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-9\">She listed many positive attributes while describing her mom, writing that Ketanji is \u201cdetermined, honest and never breaks a promise to anyone\u201d and that she can \u201cdemonstrate commitment, and is loyal and never brags.\u201d The teenager clearly has a knack for writing. Not only did she write such an articulate letter at just 11 years old but she also won the Parkmount Poetry Contest in 2021 for her poem \u201cPink Sundress\u201d which you can read <a href=\"https:\/\/parkmontpoetry.org\/winners_2021\/leila-jackson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-10\">The contest also implored about what her dreams for the future included. In wisdom beyond her years, she wrote, \u201cI want to spend my life doing something I love and I want to be as happy as I can, as often as I can.\u201d She also gave a shout-out to her parents as her biggest inspiration. \u201cMy parents are my biggest inspiration because of how far they\u2019ve come, how hard they work, and the sacrifices they consistently make for me and our family,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-11\">Leila is a student at Harvard University. She revealed that she was interested in both English literature and medicine, but was unsure what to study in a June 2022 interview with\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teenvogue.com\/story\/ketanji-brown-jackson-daughter-leila-interview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\">Teen Vogue<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>In that interview, she revealed that she\u2019s excited for her mom and her historic position. \u201cI\u2019m very, very proud of the work she\u2019s done to get here. And I think she\u2019s prepared for it.
