He studied media arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, then earned a Master of Fine Arts in Digital Art. Josh worked at Reddit and Pinterest before\u00a0Wordle<\/em>\u00a0became a global sensation.<\/p>\n

The game\u2019s title is a play on Josh\u2019s last name. According to\u00a0The Verge<\/a>, Josh revealed he had originally considered calling the game \u201cMr. Bugs\u2019 Wordy Nugz.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is true: I was going to call \u2018Wordle,\u2019 Mr. Bugs\u2019 Wordy Nugz,\u201d he previously shared during an on-stage presentation. \u201cHad I called the game Mr. Bugs, I like to think it would not have been successful.\u201d<\/p>\n

While developing the prototype for\u00a0Wordle<\/em>, Josh only showed it to close friends and family.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was trying to do something that was authentic to me. I was trying to build something for someone that I loved,\u201d Josh previously explained, according to The Verge. \u201cIt just so happened a bunch of other people loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh advised other innovators to follow their own paths and avoid replicating an invention like his.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t try to make \u2018Wordle.\u2019 Make the thing that you\u2019re passionate about that is meaningful to you,\u201d he suggested. \u201cAnd then everything else will follow from that.\u201d<\/p>\n
