Playing The New York Times<\/em>\u2018 game \u201cWordle\u201d has become an addiction for many around the world. Every day, we wake up to a new game, and it\u2019s satisfying to crack the code \u2014 well, the word. So, what was the \u201cWordle\u201d answer for today, December 18? We\u2019ve got the hints and the solution right here!<\/p>\n

Thanks to \u201cWordle\u201d creator, Josh Wardle<\/strong>, we\u2019ve got an educational and competitive game on our hands. The software engineer and digital artist developed a prototype for the game in 2013, then worked on it with his partner, Palak Shah. After introducing the game to friends and family during the COVID-19 pandemic, Josh sold \u201cWordle\u201d to The New York Times<\/em>, which he said was a \u201cvery clear decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very clear decision for me to make to sell the game,\u201d Josh said during a 2024 presentation, according to The Verge<\/a>. \u201cIt was obvious due to the success of \u2018Wordle\u2019 that I could make my life if I wanted to. But there are a bunch of things that I wouldn\u2019t enjoy about running a games business. And it just felt so clear to me that that wasn\u2019t something I wanted any part of.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh added that he was \u201ctrying to do something that was authentic to [him],\u201d and that he wanted to \u201cbuild something for someone that [he] loved. It just so happened a bunch of other people loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his advice to other innovators, Josh said,\u00a0\u201cDon\u2019t try to make \u2018Wordle.\u2019 Make the thing that you\u2019re passionate about that is meaningful to you. And then everything else will follow from that.\u201d<\/p>\n
