Another trip to a White Lotus is already booked. Ever since the jaw-dropping season 2 finale<\/a>, The White Lotus<\/em> season 3 has been on everyone\u2019s minds. Fans can breathe easy\u2014creator Mike White<\/strong> will be taking viewers to Thailand for the third season. At the start of 2024, HBO revealed several new cast members who will be stirring up the drama this time around.<\/p>\n

While the double Hollywood strikes delayed production, filming for The White Lotus<\/em> season 3 began in early 2024. The show<\/a>, renewed in November 2022, has already earned numerous awards<\/a> for its critically acclaimed second season.<\/p>\n

From the expected premiere date to the new location and cast members, HollywoodLife<\/strong> has all the latest details on The White Lotus<\/em> season 3.<\/p>\n

\u2018The White Lotus\u2019 Season 3 Release Date<\/h2>\n

The third season of The White Lotus<\/em>, set in Thailand, will premiere on February 16 on HBO and be available for streaming on Max.<\/p>\n

Filming began in February 2024, though HBO network chief Casey Bloys<\/strong> previously noted that the season was delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. \u201cWhite Lotus season 3 probably would have been in play for 2024, but it\u2019s now 2025,\u201d Bloys said in November 2023, according to Variety<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meghann Fahy<\/strong><\/a> shared with Glamour<\/em><\/a> that creator Mike White \u201cwrites so quickly and doesn\u2019t do many revisions.\u201d The first season of the hit show premiered in July 2021, followed by the second season in October 2022.<\/p>\n

\u2018The White Lotus\u2019<\/strong> Season 3 Cast<\/h2>\n

Natasha Rothwell<\/strong> was the first confirmed cast member for The White Lotus <\/em>season 3. Natasha starred in season 1 as Belinda Lindsey, the Hawaii-based resort\u2019s spa manager who has a complicated relationship with Jennifer Coolidge<\/strong>\u2018s Tanya.\u00a0Variety<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>broke the news about Natasha\u2019s return in April 2023. For her performance in season 1, Natasha received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series.<\/p>\n

In January 2024, HBO revealed the first set of cast members who will be joining Natasha in season 3. Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey<\/strong>, and\u00a0Tayme Thapthimthong <\/strong>are among the new cast members.<\/p>\n

Days after the first batch of season 3 cast members were unveiled, Carrie Coon\u2019s<\/strong> casting was announced. Carrie currently starts as Bertha Russell in HBO\u2019s The Gilded Age<\/em>. She\u2019ll be taking a break from the corsets and drama of the late 1800s and traveling to Thailand for The White Lotus<\/em>. Don\u2019t worry, Gilded Age<\/em> fans. Carrie will be returning for The Gilded Age<\/em> season 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fans have suspected that Danny Devito<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>may be among the new faces checking into the Thailand resort. In March 2023, A fan claimed on Reddit<\/a>\u00a0that Danny and Mike White got dinner together for dinner in West Hollywood, fueling speculation that they were discussing Danny joining the show.<\/p>\n

A lot of famous actors have expressed interest in joining\u00a0The White Lotus<\/em>. Hayden Panettiere<\/strong><\/a>, who made her acting comeback in\u00a0Scream 6<\/em><\/a>, told E! News<\/a> <\/em>that she wants to be in the HBO show. \u201cI want to do it so bad,\u201d she said. \u201cI want to do it, like Tom Cruise-jumping-on-Oprah\u2019s-couch bad.\u201d Hayden also said she\u2019d love for her character to be connected to\u00a0Jennifer Coolidge<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Tanya. \u201cShe is my favorite, I love her. I will be her anything\u2014bag holder, shoe shiner, I will be her guardian angel, I will be her long-lost child. I will be whatever she wants me to be,\u201d Hayden said.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Aniston<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0did an interview with E! News<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and co-signed the idea that she play Jennifer Coolidge\u2019s sister in the third season to \u201cavenge\u201d Tanya\u2019s death. \u201cDid you hear it, Mike White?\u201d the Friends<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>alum said, before admitting that she\u2019s \u201cobsessed\u201d with\u00a0The White\u00a0Lotus\u00a0<\/i>and Jennifer Coolidge. \u201cI want Jennifer Coolidge. I love her,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Of course, any characters from the previous seasons of The White\u00a0Lotus\u00a0<\/i>could also return for season 3. Notably, Mike White brought up Portia in the Unpacking video following the finale. He talked about Portia\u2019s connection to Tanya, Greg\u2019s plot to kill his wife, and how that could resurface.<\/p>\n

Mike also pointed out that Cameron (Theo James<\/strong><\/a>) is \u201cone of those guys that\u2019s not really gonna change. Some of the unspoken things between them, you wonder if that\u2019s gonna ultimately catch up with them. It is somewhat of a happy ending, although there\u2019s dark clouds in the horizon, too.\u201d Daphne does mention going on vacation to the Maldives, which is located in South Asia.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh my God, of course,\u201d Meghann told ET<\/em><\/a> about returning. \u201cI mean, I would pass out water on the third season. It\u2019s such an amazing set to be on. Like, just to witness everybody working. The cast is so amazing and watching Mike work is so cool. I mean, I would totally be there, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n

Connie Britton<\/strong><\/a>, who played Nicole Mossbacher in the first season, is hopeful that her character returns in season 3. \u201cHe [Mike White] wanted me to be in the second season, and there was an idea that I loved for the character. Our intention is to do it in the third season. A piece of casting didn\u2019t work in the second season and we\u2019re hoping to [do] that in the third season. I would love to see a spinoff on every character in that show,\u201d Connie told Deadline<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alexandra Daddario<\/strong><\/a> and Jake Lacy<\/strong>, who played newlyweds Rachel and Shane Patton in season one, revealed they would be down to return in the future. \u201cShane and I would be on a boat, talking about other people, annoying everyone around us,\u201d Alexandra told Deadline<\/em>. \u201cMike\u2019s brain is always working. That\u2019s the whole thing with his commentary on the world around him: He\u2019s always observing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jake added, \u201cMike texted Alex and I with this idea for an episode where the two of us are talking for a half hour; it\u2019s just the banality of rich people on a boat.\u201d He also floated this idea, \u201cI had hoped that Molly Shannon<\/strong> and I would be in the back of a shot; the two of us on vacation in another location, chewing out a concierge. It\u2019s like, \u2018That guy is still out there. He\u2019s not even on trial; the dude is still going on vacation!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

One character that will likely not be returning is Tanya McQuoid, played by Jennifer Coolidge. After taking out the men who had been hired by her husband, Greg, to kill her, Tanya fell off the side of the yacht and drowned in the season 2 finale.<\/p>\n

However, Mike did tell Deadline<\/em> that \u201cmaybe you can\u2019t go to Japan without Jennifer.\u201d The Emmy winner could return as a totally different character. Jennifer told ET<\/em><\/a> that she would absolutely return. \u201cI mean, I don\u2019t know what Mike has in mind. But yes, I would love [to come back],\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Where Will \u2018The White Lotus\u2019 Season 3 Take Place?<\/h2>\n

The White Lotus<\/em> season 3 will be set in Thailand.\u00a0Previous seasons of The White Lotus<\/em> were filmed at Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Italy. If season 3 also films at a Four Seasons property, the hotel has four properties across Thailand in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and the Golden Triangle. HBO confirmed that The White Lotus will film in and around\u00a0Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok.<\/p>\n

Mike White<\/strong> previously hinted that traveling to Asia is likely in the cards. \u201cWe just turned in our last episode to the network yesterday, so it\u2019s hard to think about the next race,\u201d Mike told Deadline<\/em><\/a> in October 2022. \u201cBut if we did, I think it\u2019d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Executive producer David Bernard<\/strong> similarly discussed season 3 taking place in Asia, when speaking about the show at the Berlinale Series Market in Germany on February 22. \u201cWe\u2019ve tried to work in Asia a lot and hopefully season three will be our chance to make something happen there,\u201d he said, per Deadline<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Vulture<\/em><\/a>, Mike also teased the idea of setting season 3 in Japan. The previous two seasons took place in Hawaii and Sicily. Mike\u2019s friend Johnny Knoxville<\/strong> hinted that season 3 may take place in Tokyo. \u201cMike White is a very close friend of mine. He and I had been in Tokyo together. I think that\u2019s where the next \u2026 oh, I\u2019m not giving anything away. I might call him again as soon as this is over,\u201d Johnny told Vulture<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

What Will \u2018The White Lotus\u2019 Season 3 Be About?<\/h2>\n

Mike White<\/strong> already has an idea of what The White Lotus<\/em> season 3 would be about. \u201cThe first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,\u201d Mike said in the Unpacking featurette after the season 2 finale. \u201cI think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also hinted that Greg and Quentin\u2019s conspiracy to kill Tanya may not be a secret forever. \u201cIt\u2019s possible that Portia (Haley Lu Richardson<\/strong><\/a>) is scared enough to just leave it alone, but the fact that all of those guys die on the boat, it feels like there\u2019s gotta be somebody who\u2019s gonna track it down to Greg. But maybe you\u2019ll have to wait to find out what happens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
