Superman<\/a> will be returning to the big screen in 2025. As the DC Universe starts a new chapter, the Man of Steel will play a pivotal role. Superman<\/em>\u00a0announced in late June 2023 that David Corenswet<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is the lucky actor<\/a> who\u2019s been chosen to play Superman<\/a> on the big screen. Furthermore,\u00a0The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em>\u2018s\u00a0Rachel Brosnahan<\/strong><\/a> has been cast as Lois Lane. More cast members have been added to the cast over the last few months, including Nicholas Hoult<\/strong><\/a> as Lex Luthor.<\/p>\n

Superman<\/em> 2025 Release Date<\/h2>\n

Superman<\/em>\u00a0is currently expected to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.<\/p>\n

Who Is Playing Superman?<\/h2>\n

The role of Superman was given to David Corenswet<\/strong>. David notably starred in Ryan Murphy\u2019s<\/strong> Netflix series The Politician<\/em>, which premiered in 2019. He went on to work with Murphy again in the Netflix limited series Hollywood<\/em>. The actor starred alongside Mia Goth<\/strong> in the A24 hit Pearl<\/em>.<\/p>\n

She recently starred on Broadway in The Sign in Sidney Brustein\u2019s Window<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During her May 2023 appearance on The View<\/em>, Rachel reacted to the Lois Lane rumors. \u201cLook, it would be extraordinary. Who Else Is Starring In\u00a0Superman <\/em>2025?<\/h2>\n

Nicholas Hoult<\/strong> will play Lex Luthor, Superman\u2019s #1 enemy, according to Variety<\/em><\/a>. The actor was originally in the running to play the Man of Steel, but he\u2019s taking a step over into the dark side.<\/p>\n

Nicholas is no stranger to the world of comic books coming to the big screen. He notably played Hank McKoy\/Beast in X-Men: First Class<\/em>, X-Men: Days of Future Past<\/em>, X-Men: Apocalypse<\/em>, and Dark Phoenix<\/em>. His other major movies include Mad Max: Fury Road<\/em>, The Favourite<\/em>, The Menu<\/em>, and About A Boy<\/em>. He recently wrapped a 3-season run as Peter III in the critically acclaimed Hulu series The Great<\/em><\/a>, alongside Elle Fanning<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor opened up to The Guardian<\/em><\/a> about how he screen-tested for Matt Reeves\u2019 Batman<\/em> but lost the role to Robert Pattinson<\/strong><\/a>. He also didn\u2019t get a role in Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>. He was cast in Mission: Impossible \u2014 Dead Reckoning Part One<\/em> as the main villain but had to drop out due to his obligations to The Great<\/em>.<\/p>\n

DC Studios revealed more Superman <\/em>cast members to Vanity Fair<\/a> <\/em>on July 11. Nathan Fillion<\/strong> will play Guy Gardner, one of the Green Lanterns. Nathan previously voiced a different Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, in animated DC projects. Nathan is best known for the TV shows Firefly<\/em>,\u00a0Castle<\/em>, and\u00a0The Rookie.<\/em>\u00a0He worked with James Gunn on the movies\u00a0Slither<\/em>, The Suicide Squad<\/em>, and\u00a0Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Isabel Merced\u00a0<\/strong>has been cast as Hawkgirl. She played Dora in the 2019 film\u00a0Dora and the Lost City of Gold<\/em>. She\u2019ll appear in Madame Web<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and in the upcoming Alien\u00a0<\/em>movie.<\/p>\n

What Will Superman<\/em> Be About?<\/h2>\n

The DC Universe has had an overhaul over the last year. James Gunn<\/strong>, who directed the beloved Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em> movies for Marvel, has stepped in to become the co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran<\/strong>. In January 2023, James laid out his vision for the future of the DC Universe and directly addressed Superman<\/em>.<\/p>\n

James revealed at the time that he was in the process of writing the film. He called Superman<\/em>\u00a0the \u201ctrue beginning of the DCU.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peter teased Superman\u2019s journey in the new film with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not an origin story,\u201d Peter stressed. \u201cIt focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.\u201d<\/p>\n
