Brian Thompson<\/strong><\/a> was shot and killed on Wednesday, and the NYPD is actively searching for the perpetrator.<\/p>\n

The CEO of UnitedHealthcare<\/a>\u2014one of the largest health insurance companies in the United States\u2014was shot around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, outside the Hilton hotel<\/a> in Midtown Manhattan, located on Avenue of the Americas near 54th Street. The 50-year-old was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. At the time of the shooting, Thompson was reportedly en route to the company\u2019s annual investor conference in New York City.<\/p>\n

He is survived by his wife, Paulette \u201cPauley\u201d Thompson<\/strong><\/a>, and their two children.<\/p>\n

Who Is Paulette Thompson?<\/h2>\n

Brian\u2019s wife, Paulette, was born in Webster City, Iowa. She works as a physical therapist with Park Nicollet Health Services and earned a Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa, where Brian also attended college.<\/p>\n

Do They Have Kids?<\/h2>\n

Brian and Paulette raised two young sons together in the family\u2019s $1.5 million home in Maple Grove, Minnesota.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0her work bio states, \u201cI love spending time with my two boys and taking them to all of their activities. I also enjoy boating, spending time with family and friends, playing piano, biking, and traveling. I am dedicated and passionate about well-being and want to make a difference in other people\u2019s lives. I love helping people recover from injuries and giving them a sense of empowerment over their health, so they can live their lives to the fullest\u2014getting them back to their baseline, or in some cases, surpassing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Did She Say After Brian\u2019s Death?<\/h2>\n

Following the news of her husband\u2019s fatal shooting, Paulette told NBC News, \u201cThere had been some threats\u201d against her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically I don\u2019t know, a lack of coverage? I don\u2019t know details,\u201d she said. \u201cI just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t really give a thoughtful response right now,\u201d she continued. \u201cI just found this out and I\u2019m trying to console my children.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement to CNN on Wednesday, she said, \u201cWe are shattered to hear about the senseless killing of our beloved Brian. Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives. Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n
