Morgan Wallen\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>has been one of the fastest-rising stars in the country music world for years now. Despite some controversy along the way, the \u201cLast Night\u201d singer, 30, has climbed the charts and been a crossover success. His albums\u00a0Dangerous: The Double Album\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0One Thing at a Time\u00a0<\/em>both landed at the top of the\u00a0Billboard\u00a0<\/em>charts, and his single \u201cLast Night\u201d hit number one on the Hot 100 chart.<\/p>\n While Morgan is primarily a country singer, he\u2019s collaborated with quite a few rappers. He had already opened for the superstar country duo<\/a> \u00a0Florida Georgia Line<\/strong> during their 2017 tour, and FGL appeared on the album\u2019s second single, \u201cUp Down.\u201d Morgan\u2019s third single \u201cWhiskey Glasses\u201d was released in the summer of 2018, and it was a slow burn hit, reaching number one on the country radio airplay charts in June 2019 and becoming one of the year\u2019s biggest hits. If I Know Me<\/em> finally finally reached the number one spot on the Billboard<\/em> Country Album chart in August 2020, 114 weeks after it was released.<\/p>\n Morgan broke strict quarantine rules<\/a> in place by\u00a0SNL\u00a0<\/em>due to COVID-19, and was seen in several TikTok videos at partying hard in Tuscaloosa, AL following the University of Alabama\u2019s football game the previous Saturday. In the videos, Morgan was at a bar and a house party taking shots, not social distancing, not wearing a mask, and kissing female fans.<\/p>\n On October 7, the then-27-year-old shared an Instagram video from his New York hotel room, revealing he was getting ready for his Saturday performance, \u201cand I got a call from the show that I will no longer be able to play. And that\u2019s because of COVID protocols<\/a>, which I understand.\u201d Morgan noted that he has tested negative<\/a> for the coronavirus, but that his actions the weekend prior were \u201cpretty short sighted, and they\u2019ve obviously affected by long term goals and my dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n Two months after he was originally supposed to perform on Saturday Night Live<\/em>, Morgan appeared on the show as the musical guest. The singer previously apologized for putting the cast and crew \u201cin jeopardy\u201d by partying maskless and not social distancing, pledging to \u201cwork\u201d on himself and take responsibility. Morgan performed two of his hits, \u201c7 Summers\u201d and \u201cStill Goin\u2019 Down\u201d during the Jason Bateman<\/strong>-hosted episode. He also appeared in a sketch<\/a> making fun of his partying scandal.<\/p>\n The singer appeared on 2014\u2019s season six of the music competition. Surprisingly the Tennessee-born country singer wasn\u2019t on Team Blake Shelton<\/strong><\/a>, as he was initially with coach Usher<\/strong> and then Team Adam Levine<\/strong> before being eliminated in the playoff rounds.<\/p>\n He welcomed son Indie Wilder<\/strong> in July with ex-fianc\u00e9e Katie Smith<\/strong>. Morgan shared an Instagram photo<\/a> cradling his little boy on July 1, writing, \u201cLittle Wilder, I\u2019m a changed man. I see mine differently now. It\u2019s not just me anymore, and I\u2019m glad it\u2019s not. This year has been the hardest of my life in so many ways, but that\u2019s not what i will remember it by. You are.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The \u201cWasted on You\u201d singer was heard hurling the slur while heading into his Tennessee home. A video obtained by TMZ<\/a> shows Morgan and his friends arriving at the house around midnight and making a ton of noise. Neighbors came outside, and one began recording the incident.<\/p>\n Morgan is heard telling someone to watch over one of the other guys in their group. Among other profanities, the country singer says, \u201ctake care of this p****-ass n*****.\u201d On February 10, 2021 he posted a lengthy video<\/a> apology to clarify some of his comments. \u201cThe video you saw of me was me on hour 72 of 72 of a bender and that\u2019s not something I\u2019m proud of either.\u201d he explained, confessing he was \u201cnervous\u201d as he filmed the Instagram post. \u201cI let so many people down\u2026I\u2019m not OK with that\u2026I also accepted some invitations from some amazing Black organizations<\/a>, executives and leaders to engage in some real and honest conversations,\u201d he went on. \u201cOur actions matter, our words matter, and I just want to encourage anyone watching to please learn from my mistakes. There is no reason to downplay what I did. It matters,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n Days before the video, he also apologized via a statement: \u201cI\u2019m embarrassed and sorry,\u201d he said on February 5, 2021. \u201cI used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word.
