Now that fans have watched JJ\u2019s heartbreaking death, many are begging actor Rudy Pankow<\/strong> to pull off a Ward Cameron and find a way to come back. So, is that possible?<\/p>\n Hollywood Life<\/strong> has the details on Rudy\u2019s exit from the show, his character\u2019s future and more below.<\/p>\n After season 4 concluded in November 2024, series star Chase Stokes<\/strong><\/a> (who plays John B.) shared Outer Banks<\/em> creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate<\/strong> and Shannon Burke<\/strong>\u2018s season 5 announcement to his Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cNow, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we\u2019re putting Season Four behind us and turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago,\u201d the creators\u2019 letter read. \u201cSeason Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you\u2019ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.\u201d<\/p>\n There is currently no release date<\/a> set for season 5 of Outer Banks.<\/em> Last year, filming for the fourth season was delayed amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.<\/p>\n Rudy did not quit Outer Banks.<\/em> During an interview with Netflix<\/a>, the actor recalled the moment he learned that his character was going to get killed off.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I first found out JJ was gonna risk it all and not make it, I understood it,\u201d Rudy insisted. \u201cAnd the risks got bigger and bigger, and the stakes got higher and higher.\u201d<\/p>\n Calling his OBX<\/em> experience a \u201chuge honor to portray a character so beautiful and selfless,\u201d Rudy added that JJ\u2019s death \u2014 while devastating for the Pogues and the fans \u2014 begs the question: Is treasure hunting worth risking their lives?<\/p>\n \u201cHis death really does set up the future of OBX<\/em> with the question, what is worth it?\u201d Rudy added. \u201cAnd when someone that close to you is gone, how do you navigate that?\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear how a resurrection could happen in OBX<\/em>\u2018s final season. Countless fans, however, have vocalized their support for JJ to return, with some pointing out Ward Cameron\u2019s comeback in season 3. In season 2, Ward (played by actor Charles Esten<\/strong>) faked his own death in a boat explosion. When season 3 revealed that he was still alive, the character took several bullets for his daughter, Sarah, (Madelyn Cline<\/strong><\/a>), which gave the complicated character an emotional sendoff.<\/p>\n As of now, JJ\u2019s death appears to be permanent. At the end of season 4, JJ\u2019s girlfriend, Kiara (Madison Bailey<\/strong>) and the rest of the Pogues vow to avenge JJ\u2019s death, seemingly by killing Chandler Groff (J.
