The 2024 U.S. election featured a handful of notable celebrity endorsements. From Vice President Kamala Harris<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 campaign to Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s, several public figures proudly voiced their support for the respective candidates. A majority of Hollywood endorsed Harris, while a handful showed up for Trump. But after a now-debunked report<\/a> claimed that Harris paid Oprah Winfrey<\/strong><\/a>, voters are wondering if celebrities get paid to endorse politicians.<\/p>\n

Which Celebrities Donated to Harris?<\/h2>\n

Out of all the celebrities who endorsed her, it\u2019s unclear if all of them donated to Harris\u2019 campaign. Numerous stars supported the VP, including Jennifer Lopez<\/a>, Eminem<\/a>, Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, Taylor Swift<\/a><\/strong> and several more.<\/p>\n

The only celebrity who reportedly donated to the Harris campaign was Beyonc\u00e9, according to Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>. The outlet reported in August 2024 that the \u201cFreedom\u201d artist \u201cset aside $4 million to donate to the campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bey did not publicly confirm or deny the report.<\/p>\n

Which Celebrities Donated to Trump?<\/h2>\n

The celebrities who publicly backed Trump were Dennis Quaid<\/a>, Dr. Phil<\/a>, Elon Musk<\/a><\/strong> and others. Musk was the one who donated millions to the Republican\u2019s campaign, NPR<\/a> reported. In October, the Tesla founder\u2019s political action committee spent more than $70 million to support Trump\u2019s re-election. By November, Musk\u2019s PAC spent about $200 million, according to the Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Did Kamala Pay Celebrities to Endorse Her?<\/h2>\n

In November,\u00a0The Washington Examiner <\/em><\/a>alleged that Harris\u2019 team spent \u201csix figures on building a set for Harris\u2019 appearance on the popular \u2018Call Her Daddy\u2019 podcast with host Alex Cooper<\/strong>\u201d and claimed that Harris paid Oprah Winfrey<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s Harpo Productions $1 million.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a right-wing-leaning X account named \u201cBreaking911\u201d claimed that Harris\u2019 campaign spent about $20 million on celebrity endorsements.<\/p>\n

However, Winfrey quickly shut down the rumors. According to video published by TMZ<\/em><\/a>, the TV producer noted she was \u201cpaid nothing \u2014 ever\u201d by Harris and said that the rumors \u201cnot true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, there was no evidence to support either The Washington Examiner<\/em> or Breaking911\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n

Did Trump Pay Celebrities for Endorsements?<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s unclear if Trump compensated any of his famous supporters. However, since Winfrey debunked the claim about Harris\u2019 celebrity endorsements, it\u2019s unlikely that the Republican paid celebrities.<\/p>\n

Social media content creators may be a different story, though. Per CNN<\/a>, influencer are not required \u201cto disclose if they\u2019ve been paid to endorse a candidate or speak about a political issue on their page.\u201d<\/p>\n
