Teri Garr <\/strong>knew how to tickle moviegoers\u2019 funny bone. Throughout the 1970s and \u201980s, the late Young Frankenstein<\/em> star appeared in countless comedic roles on screen, and she was even nominated for an Academy Award. Unfortunately, Teri\u2019s life ended in October 2024. She died<\/a> in Los Angeles following her years-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Her cause of death is still unknown.<\/p>\n

Teri Garr\u2019s Most Famous Movies & TV Shows Were in the \u201970s & \u201980s<\/h2>\n

The actress is most famous for playing Sandy in\u00a0Tootsie <\/em>(1982), Inga in\u00a0Young Frankenstein\u00a0<\/em>(1974) and Ronnie Neary in Close Encounters of the Third Kind<\/em> (1974). Of course, her acting credits expand way beyond those three titles. She has starred in more movies like After Hours (1985) <\/em>and Mr. Mom <\/em>(1983), and had recurring roles in television series like McCloud <\/em>and Batman Beyond.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Teri Played Phoebe\u2019s Mother in Friends<\/em><\/h2>\n

Who could forget that twist in the sitcom? Phoebe and Ursula Buffay\u2019s birth mother was revealed to be Phoebe Abbott, portrayed by Teri.<\/p>\n

Teri Was Living With Several Health Issues<\/h2>\n

Teri was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999, and then, suffered a brain aneurysm in December 2006. Multiple sclerosis is a \u201cpotentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord,\u201d according to Web MD<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During a 2002 interview on CNN, Teri described the pain she had been living with and when she learned that she had MS.<\/p>\n

\u201cStarting many years ago, I would run, jog in the park, and I just started tripping,\u201d she explained at the time. \u201cIt was just, like, my toe. I would start to trip, and then, that would go away. Then, I would get some tingling in my arm. And I went to one doctor who said, \u2018Oh, this is an orthopedic problem.\u2019 \u2026 I called my brother in L.A. who is a doctor and he said, \u2018You know, get another opinion.\u2019 So, I went to a neurologist. And he said, \u2018Yes, it\u2019s a pinched nerve.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite her difficult health journey, Teri maintained a positive outlook about the condition, pointing out that \u201cnow, the good news is that there\u2019s a lot of good medicines out there and options for people.\u201d<\/p>\n
