Congratulations are in order for Gisele B\u00fcndchen<\/a><\/strong> and her boyfriend, Joaquim Valente<\/strong><\/a>, as they expect their first child together!<\/p>\n

\u201cGisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and are looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family,\u201d a source close to the model confirmed to PEOPLE<\/em> on Monday, Oct. 28. Their baby will join B\u00fcndchen\u2019s two kids: son Benjamin Rein<\/strong> <\/a>and daughter Vivian Lake<\/strong><\/a>, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>Brady<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

After B\u00fcndchen divorced the former NFL quarterback in<\/span> October 2022, she was spotted with Valente that November. Initially, dating rumors emerged, but the couple clarified they were just friends. Their friendship eventually turned romantic, and they began quietly dating in mid-2023. \u201cHe was a huge comfort for Gisele while she went through her divorce,\u201d an insider told the outlet in February. The source also added that B\u00fcndchen and Valente began dating after her divorce was finalized.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoaquim is a great guy,\u201d the source added. \u201cHe is down to earth, kind, and inspiring. Gisele was hesitant about dating after the divorce, but it has felt very natural for her to be with Joaquim.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joaquim Comes From a Family of J\u016bjutsu Practitioners<\/h2>\n

\u201cIn a span of 67 years, three generations of the Valente family practiced j\u016bjutsu under the direct tutelage of legendary grandmaster H\u00e9lio Gracie,\u201d reads the family history section on the Valente Brothers\u2019 website<\/a>. \u201cDr. Syllo Valente and his brother, General Eliezer Valente, were the first in the family to discover j\u016bjutsu. A Japanese friend taught the brothers some basic principles of self-defense in the 1920\u2019s. When Carlos and H\u00e9lio Gracie opened their famed Academia Gracie in downtown Rio de Janeiro in 1952, it didn\u2019t take long for the Valentes to enroll.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Valente brothers were born into the j\u016bjutsu tradition,\u201d the site lists. \u201cPedro, Gui and Joaquim began learning j\u016bjutsu from their father before they could walk. At the tender age of two, Pedro, Gui and Joaquim were already taking private lessons from Grandmaster H\u00e9lio Gracie. Growing up, the Valente brothers trained daily at the Gracie Academy in Rio de Janeiro under H\u00e9lio, Royler, and Rolker Gracie. Pedro Sr. always wanted his sons to learn j\u016bjutsu as a complete fighting system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apart from martial arts, Joaquim is also Brazilian, like Gisele. PEOPLE<\/em><\/a> reported in February 2024 that their \u201csimilar backgrounds\u201d is one quality the model appreciates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey both left Brazil very young,\u201d a source told the outlet. \u201cThey have both created amazing lives for themselves in the U.S. They both love Miami but also enjoy traveling. They both enjoy healthy living. Gisele\u2019s in a great space. She is happy and very much enjoying life. Joaquim is perfect for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

He Is Well Educated<\/h2>\n

\u201cThe youngest of the Valente Brothers, Joaquim, moved to Miami in 2007 to study criminology at Barry University,\u201d reads the family website. A LinkedIn<\/a> page attributed to Joaquim lists that he attended Barry University from 2007 to 2011. While studying, Joaquim studied with Grand Master H\u00e9lio Gracie.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2007 Joaquim also received the Professors\u2019 Diploma from Grandmaster H\u00e9lio Gracie,\u201d the family\u2019s website listed. \u201cThis was a great accomplishment and honor for the brothers in light of the fact that in 75 years only 27 people received this diploma from Grandmaster H\u00e9lio Gracie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joaquim Lives in Miami<\/h2>\n

Joaquim\u2019s LinkedIn profile lists that he\u2019s based out of Miami Beach, Florida. Gisele has been living in Florida since Tom signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. In late February 2024, a source told Page Six<\/em><\/a> that he was spending most nights at her Miami home since her mom, Vania Nonnenmacher<\/strong>, sadly passed away at the end of January 2024 and had become her \u201crock.\u201d The source also said they have been showing off more PDA. \u201cThey were keeping things quiet \u2014 but recently there\u2019s been more PDA; they\u2019re happy to be affectionate with each other in public,\u201d the source also told the outlet.<\/p>\n

He & Gisele Were Initially \u2018Great Friends\u2019<\/h2>\n

Gisele knows Brazilian j\u016bjutsu \u2013 who knew? In fact, she has sparred with Joaquim. In a video that she posted to her Instagram<\/a>, Gisele showed her fans that she clearly knew a thing or two about the sport. She gave a preview of her skills while shouting out the Valente facility in Miami. \u201cI believe the more tools we have in our toolbox the better. I feel stronger, more confident, and empowered since I started practicing self-defense,\u201d she wrote on Instagram<\/a>. I feel it\u2019s an important skill for all, but especially for us women. Thank you @ValenteBrothers for being awesome teachers and for making training so much fun. I am looking forward to keep improving. Let\u2019s go!\u201d<\/p>\n

The duo has kept their romance super low-key, but PEOPLE<\/em><\/a> reported more details about their relationship in February 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have been dating since June [2023],\u201d an insider told the publication. \u201cThey\u2019re taking it slow. They started out as great friends first. She\u2019s very private about this and wanted to keep it quiet while they got to know each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially, I wasn\u2019t even considering it for myself, to be honest with you,\u201d said Gisele. \u201cBut, when I bought [Ben] into the first class, and started talking with Joaquim, I realized it was much more than self-defense,\u201d Gisele said that her daughter, Vivienne, also got into j\u016bjutsu.\u201d<\/p>\n
