BIRDS of a feather flock together\u00a0\u2013 and so do these western toad tadpoles, who were snapped massing beneath lily pads in Cedar\u00a0Lake on Vancouver Island in\u00a0British Columbia, Canada, by\u00a0photographer Shane Gross<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gross, whose stunning image\u00a0The Swarm of Life<\/em> won him the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024 award today, spent hours snorkelling in the lake\u2019s chilly waters to get his shot. He had almost given up when he discovered that \u201cthe tadpole army was marching en masse from the deeper, safer end of\u2026<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
