He was 84.<\/p>\n \u201cWith a career spanning over five decades, Amos leaves behind a legacy of groundbreaking work in both television and film, along with a commitment to positive African American representation in media,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n The late actor<\/a> is best known for his role as James Evans Sr. on <\/a>Good Times,<\/em> where he portrayed a hardworking father striving to provide for his family in a challenging environment. His character\u2019s emphasis on education and family values left a lasting impact on viewers. In real life, Amos was the father of two children, Shannon and K.C., with his second wife, Noel J. Mickelson<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s something that I think every father and son will want to see.\u201d<\/p>\n K.C. confirmed his father\u2019s passing in a statement, noting that John \u201clived a good life\u201d and that his \u201clegacy will live on.\u201d He shared, \u201cMy father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life,\u201d mentioning John\u2019s recent role in Suits LA<\/em> and their joint documentary, America\u2019s Dad.<\/em> He added, \u201cHe was my dad, my best friend, and my hero. Thank you for your prayers and support at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n In contrast, Shannon, who had public disputes with her brother and father regarding an alleged elder abuse scandal<\/a>, claimed she learned about her father\u2019s death through online reports\u201445 days after it occurred.
