In a sudden twist, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young<\/strong> was benched by Coach Dave Canales<\/strong>, and he was subsequently replaced by Andy Dalton<\/strong>. However, Bryce wasn\u2019t benched for any injuries; he is the first QB in years to be selected in the No. 1 common draft to be benched for non-injury-related purposes. Why Was Bryce Young Benched by Dave Canales?<\/h2>\n

According to ESPN<\/a>, Coach Canales said that benching Bryce was his decision in the end. He also discussed the choice with general manager Dan Morgan and executive vice president Brandt Tillis.<\/p>\n

\u201cCertainly a lot of parties involved there, and ultimately this comes on me,\u201d the coach explained, per the outlet. \u201cMy No. 1 responsibility is to help the Panthers win, and so, this move puts us in the best chance to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The coach added that he watched the most recent games in which Bryce had played. In the end, he ultimately \u201chad to make the decision that was best for the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI certainly take it personal,\u201d Dave pointed out. \u201cThis is about building a culture, this is about building a football team that plays to a certain style, and that\u2019s my main focus. And above all, it\u2019s to help the Panthers to win. So, that\u2019s what the decision was about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bryce had a career-low of 6.4 total QBR by the time the Panthers lost against the Los Angeles Chargers. The athlete also spoke out following the Panthers\u2019 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite getting benched, he noted he\u2019s \u201cvery blessed\u201d to be where he is in his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very blessed,\u201d Bryce said during a press conference. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for this challenge. Not an ideal start, but God does everything for a reason. I have faith in that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who Is Andy Dalton?<\/h2>\n

Andy is a quarterback who previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints before joining the Panthers.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN, Andy admitted that he \u201cwasn\u2019t expecting\u201d Coach Canales to replace Bryce with him, but he had \u201cbeen praying for another opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I came here, I wasn\u2019t sure if I was going to get another opportunity to start again,\u201d Andy confessed. \u201cAnd so, I\u2019m really looking forward to it. I\u2019m excited about what\u2019s ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the coach\u2019s decision to bench Bryce, Andy acknowledged, \u201cIt\u2019s a tough situation. I\u2019ve been on both sides of it, and it\u2019s hard on everybody. But for me, I mean, I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Is Bryce Young Coming Back to the Panthers?<\/h2>\n

For now, Bryce is not playing for the Panthers as a QB. His future with the team is still unknown. The football player was a fan-favorite for years after becoming a rising star on the University of Alabama\u2019s Crimson Tide team. After playing a successful junior year, Bryce decided to skip his senior year and enter the 2023 NFL Draft, which is when the Panthers selected him first overall.<\/p>\n
