Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> seemingly emerged from Tuesday night less impressive than his Democratic opponent \u2014 a sentiment Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> agreed with as she endorsed\u00a0Kamala Harris<\/strong><\/a> shortly after the presidential debate concluded in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n In a lengthy statement on Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, September 10, the \u201cKarma\u201d singer expressed her support for Kamala Harris while criticizing the Republican candidate and his team for using AI-generated images with her likeness earlier this summer.<\/p>\n \u201cLike many of you, I watched the debate tonight,\u201d Swift began in her post. \u201cAs a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country. Recently, I was made aware that AI of \u2018me\u2019 falsely endorsing Donald Trump\u2019s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n She added, \u201cIt brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n Last month, the former president shared a collage of AI-generated images purporting to show young women in \u201cSwifties for Trump\u201d shirts. \u201cI accept!\u201d Trump wrote in the caption of the post shared on his Truth Social<\/a> platform.\u00a0The former president later claimed he didn\u2019t \u201cknow anything about them other than somebody else generated them. I didn\u2019t generate them.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,\u201d Swift clarified, describing Harris as \u201ca steady-handed, gifted leader\u201d and expressing her admiration for Harris\u2019 selection of running mate, Gov. Tim Walz<\/strong>, \u201cwho has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman\u2019s right to her own body for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.\u201d She emphasized her decision, concluding, \u201cI\u2019ve done my research, and I\u2019ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.\u201d<\/p>\n The 14-time Grammy winner signed the post with \u201cChildless cat lady\u201d \u2014 a direct jab at Trump\u2019s running mate, JD Vance<\/strong>, whose comments resurfaced earlier this year. Vance had complained that America is being run \u201cby a bunch of childless cat ladies, who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they\u2019ve made,\u201d while referring to Harris, who has two stepchildren through her marriage to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n When Trump was first asked Tuesday night to acknowledge the coveted endorsement of the mega pop star\u2014which now has almost 9 million likes\u2014the GOP nominee said, \u201cI have no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n But on Wednesday morning, when asked about Swift endorsing Harris, Trump told Fox News he prefers Swift\u2019s friend, Brittany Mahomes<\/strong>\u2014who has recently spent more time with Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce<\/strong>\u2014over the singer.<\/p>\n \u201cI actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth,\u201d Trump replied. \u201cShe\u2019s a big Trump fan. However, this seems unlikely, as a Morning Consult poll<\/a> from 2023 found that a majority of Swift\u2019s fans lean Democratic.<\/p>\n As for Trump\u2019s Brittany comments, he is likely referring to the fact that the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes<\/strong> made headlines in recent weeks for subtly supporting Trump.
