Dave Grohl<\/a> <\/strong>has lived many lifetimes. Before he was known as the leader of the Foo Fighters<\/strong>, Dave was beating the hell out of the drums for Nirvana, <\/strong>honing his chops in DC hardcore band Scream<\/strong>, and \u2014 per Rolling Stone<\/a>\u2018s <\/em>recounting of his memoir, The Storyteller<\/a><\/em> \u2013 he almost became a member of GWAR<\/strong>. Yet, one of the most significant chapters in his life story is the one about his time as a father. Since 2003, Dave has been married to producer and director Jordyn Blum<\/strong>, and they have become parents to three daughters: Violet, Harper<\/strong>, and Ophelia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dave told<\/a> Ellen DeGeneres<\/a> <\/strong>in 2014 that he\u2019s a pretty typical dad with a pretty normal dad\u2019s schedule. \u201cMy day starts at about 5:45,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I get up, and I get in the shower, and I get my act together. Then I gotta get them up out of bed, but then I gotta get the snack packs going. While I get the snack packs going, they come into the kitchen, and I get the breakfast going. I get them dressed, and I get the backpacks and the snack packs into my minivan, and then I get them in the minivan, and I sit in traffic for 45 minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, it seems the musician hasn\u2019t fully left his rockstar days behind, as he recently revealed on Instagram<\/a> that he welcomed a baby girl with an undisclosed woman, despite being married to Blum for 21 years.<\/p>\n

Dave and Jordyn welcomed Violet Maye Grohl on April 15, 2006, per IMDB<\/a>. So far, Violet has shown that Dave isn\u2019t the only rock star in the family. In 2018, when she was a preteen, she joined her dad to cover Adele\u2019s<\/b>\u00a0\u201cWhen We Were Young\u201d for a benefit at the Fox Theater in Oakland for the UCSF Benioff Children\u2019s Hospitals, per Entertainment Weekly<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

A 13-year-old Violet joined St. Vincent, Beck, <\/strong>and the surviving members of Nirvana \u2013 her father, Krist Novoselic, <\/strong>and Pat Smear <\/strong>\u2013 for a charity show for The Art of Elysium\u2019s annual Heaven Gala in January 2020, per NME<\/a>. With Violet singing at various points, the group covered \u201cHeart-Shaped Box,\u201d \u201cBeen A Son,\u201d \u201cIn Bloom,\u201d \u201cLithium,\u201d and Nirvana\u2019s MTV Unplugged <\/em>version of David Bowie\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThe Man Who Sold The World.\u201d In April 2021, Violet and Dave released a song together \u2013 a cover of \u201cNausea\u201d from legendary LA punk band X. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In an Instagram post announcing the track<\/a>, Dave spoke about how it was important to cover an X song with Violet. Dave shared that his grandmother\u2019s maiden name was Bonebrake, which meant he might be related to D.J. Bonebrake<\/strong>, X\u2019s drummer.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Violet lent her dulcet tones to the tribute concert<\/a> for Dave\u2019s late bandmate Taylor Hawkins<\/strong>. Harper Willow Grohl arrived in this world on April 17, 2009. Like her older sister, Harper has followed in her father\u2019s footsteps. While performing at Iceland\u2019s Secret Solstice Festival in June 2017, Dave shared some great news. \u201cAbout two weeks ago, my daughter said, \u2018Daddy, I wanna play the drums.\u2019 And I said, \u2018Okay. Do you want me to teach you?\u2019 She said, \u2018Yes.\u2019 And then I said, \u2018Do you want to get up in front of 20,000 people in Iceland and play?\u2019 And she said, \u2018Yes,’\u201d he said<\/a>. He also said that Harper asked him \u201cif Kurt was shy.\u201d Dave was slightly shocked since this was the first question Harper ever asked about Nirvana. \u201cI was like, \u2018Yeah, he kind of was.\u2019 And then she said, \u2018Was he shy around people he didn\u2019t know \u2013 or was he also shy around people he did know?\u2019 And it was interesting, it was really the first time she started really asking me questions about Kurt. She also <\/em>has a little bit of rock and roll in her, and she\u2019s shown it as part of The Gohlettes (aka Ophelia, Harper, and Violet, who joined their dad for his tribute song to Nandi Bushell<\/a> in 2020) and during a 2019 appearance on Ryan\u2019s Mystery Playdate<\/em>. \u201cMy daughter has been watching the show constantly,\u201d said Dave during a behind-the-scenes clip, per People<\/a><\/em>, \u201cso it\u2019s like meeting a real rockstar. I\u2019m not the rockstar here.
