As Sean Astin<\/strong>\u2018s Mikey said in 1985\u2019s The Goonies<\/em> \u2014 \u201cgoonies never say die.\u201d Fans of the cult classic movie are thrilled to hear that a sequel<\/a> is possibly in our midst. But would the cast return to reprise their roles in The Goonies 2<\/em><\/a>? Apart from Sean, the rest of the cast included Josh Brolin<\/strong>,<\/a> Ke Huy Quan<\/a>, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman<\/a> and Kerry Green.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Josh played the role of Brandon \u201cBrand\u201d Walsh in the film. Since the actor has appeared in a slew of projects since then, including in No Country for Old Men<\/em>, True Grit<\/em> and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos, viewers are wondering if he was tapped to return for The Goonies 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n Per The U.S. Sun<\/em>, a source claimed earlier this month that it\u2019s \u201clikely [that] major stars will come back, but the possibilities of where to take the sequel are endless.\u201d The insider did not mention which of the actors would return, though,<\/p>\n \u201cThe plan is to start developing the ideas for the follow up next summer, with a possible release date of 2026 or 2027,\u201d the source told the outlet. \u201cThe original is so culturally significant, Warner Bros\u2019 know they have to get it totally right.\u201d<\/p>\n Since none of the original stars has commented on the sequel rumors, it\u2019s unclear if they will reprise their roles. However, Josh previously looked back on his performance in The Goonies<\/em> during an interview with Variety<\/em><\/a>. During the interview published in May 2023, the Avengers: Endgame<\/em> actor recalled how \u201cmassive\u201d the film was for him at the beginning of his career.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Goonies<\/em> was massive as a beginning,\u201d Josh said. \u201cI remember I was reading tons of Stanislavski and I had studied with Stella Adler, and I was really into the craft, but just incredibly na\u00efve so I didn\u2019t know how to utilize it. So, I\u2019m coming up to [Steven<\/strong>] Spielberg<\/strong><\/a> and saying, \u2018I imagine the tunnels are the inside of my mother\u2019s womb,\u2019 and he was like, \u2018no, all you\u2019ve got to do is just walk down the tunnel. You don\u2019t have to think about anything.
