Hollywood is mourning<\/a> the late James Earl Jones<\/strong><\/a>. Known for his roles<\/a> in The Lion King<\/em> and the Star Wars<\/em><\/a> franchise, the legend was also known for his television narrations. As most celebrities have mentioned in their individual tributes to James<\/a>, the Field of Dreams<\/em> star<\/a> is being honored for his contributions to the entertainment industry in addition to his personality.<\/p>\n

The Star Wars<\/em> franchise filmmaker tweeted a tribute to James, which read, \u201c\u2018You were right about me. Tell your sister you were right.\u2019 Fair well, old friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew Broderick<\/h2>\n

According to a statement obtained by PEOPLE<\/em><\/a>, Matthew reflected on working alongside James in The Lion King<\/em>. Matthew voiced the role of Simba, and James voiced Mufasa.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so lucky to have had a chance to work with James Earl Jones,\u201d the Broadway alum told the outlet. \u201cTo have had him play my father, my king! And to get to know him a little bit. I\u2019d cross paths with him from time to time over the years and I was always so thrilled to see him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew also pointed out that James \u201cwas a great listener.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFar different from what you might imagine from that austere, kingly, beautiful voice,\u201d he added. \u201cHis brilliant, frightening, heartbreaking performance in Fences<\/em> might be my favorite, but there really are so many great performances in that long, magnificent career it\u2019s impossible to choose a favorite. One of the very best of his or any generation. A great American actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yellowstone<\/em> alum penned an Instagram<\/a> note in honor of James, remembering the late actor for his \u201cbooming voice,\u201d his \u201cquiet strength\u201d and \u201cthe kindness that he radiated.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo much can be said about his legacy, so I\u2019ll just say how thankful I am that part of it includes Field of Dreams<\/em>,\u201d Kevin wrote. \u201cIf you\u2019ve seen it, you know that this movie wouldn\u2019t be the same with anyone else in his role. Only he could bring that kind of magic to a movie about baseball and a corn field in Iowa. I\u2019m grateful to have been a witness to him making that magic happen.
