Former Vice President\u00a0Dick Cheney<\/a>, a lifelong Republican, will vote for Kamala Harris for president, his daughter Liz Cheney said Friday.<\/p>\n Liz Cheney, who herself\u00a0endorsed Harris<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday, made the announcement when asked by Mark Leibovich of The Atlantic magazine during an onstage interview at The Texas Tribune Festival in Austin.<\/p>\n \u201cDick Cheney will be voting for Kamala Harris,\u201d Liz Cheney said to audience cheers.<\/p>\n \u201cWow,\u201d Leibovich replied.<\/p>\n Like his daughter, Dick Cheney has been an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump, notably during Liz Cheney\u2019s ill-fated re-election campaign in 2022.<\/p>\n In a\u00a0campaign ad<\/a>\u00a0for Liz Cheney as she sought a fourth term as Wyoming\u2019s lone congressperson, Dick Cheney called Trump a \u201ccoward\u201d for trying to \u201csteal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him.\u201d<\/p>\n The ad did little good for his daughter in a deep-red state that once held the Cheney family dear but is now thoroughly in Trump\u2019s corner. By a 2-to-1 margin, Liz Cheney\u00a0lost her Republican primary<\/a>\u00a0to Trump-endorsed attorney Harriet Hageman.<\/p>\n Notably absent from Friday\u2019s endorsement announcement was the former vice president, who has made few if any public appearances over the past year or more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\nRecommended reading:<\/strong>
