The brand-new trailer<\/a> for Wicked<\/em><\/a> unveils several key moments from the movie, featuring Cynthia Erivo<\/strong><\/a>, Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a> and Ariana\u2019s boyfriend, Ethan Slater<\/strong><\/a>. Based on the original Broadway musical, the upcoming film adaptation is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz<\/em>. And the trailer begins by inviting viewers to \u201cdiscover everything that happened before Dorothy.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the trailer, which dropped on Thursday, September 5, viewers hear Ariana\u2019s character, Glinda, telling the people of Oz, \u201cFellow Ozians, the Wicked Witch of the West is dead.\u201d Ariana is also heard narrating, \u201cLet me tell you the whole story. Our paths did cross at school. She had her secrets.\u201d<\/p>\n

The female leads\u2019 voices are then heard belting out the impressive notes to \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d as the teaser unravels more of Cynthia\u2019s character, Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.<\/p>\n
