It seems things are back to business as usual for the estranged brothers after the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes<\/strong>, on August 28,\u00a0where\u00a0Prince Harry\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>and Prince<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0William<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0were both in attendance but reportedly \u201ckept their distance.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to reports that Harry, 39, was interested in performing some royal duties in the UK, a friend of William, 42, called Harry \u201ca broken record\u201d and warned that \u201che is not wanted\u201d in his native country anymore.<\/p>\n The Mirror<\/em> <\/a>reported Wednesday that the Duke of Sussex is \u201copen\u201d to taking on royal duties again if his father King Charles III<\/a><\/strong> were to ask, four years after moving from the UK to California \u2014 but the main contingency lies in whether he receives an \u201capology\u201d from his older brother.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all know he would love to be given a part-time royal role, but Queen Elizabeth was very clear that he couldn\u2019t be half in and half out,\u201d the friend told the Daily Beast<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cNothing has changed. Whoever is promulgating these ludicrous theories on Harry\u2019s behalf is simply pretending to not get the message that he is not wanted. They are either very thick or pretending to be.\u201d<\/p>\n William and Harry have not spoken for months and currently have no contact. Friends of Harry said he is aware of his brother\u2019s feelings on the matter after an outlet previously revealed Prince William suggested there was \u201czero chance\u201d he would be welcomed back into the fold after penning his tell-all memoir, Spare.<\/em><\/p>\n At their first encounter since Charles\u2019 coronation in May 2023, the brothers did not speak a word to each other, according to multiple attendees at the memorial service in Norfolk for their late mother Princess Diana<\/strong>\u2019s brother-in-law.<\/p>\n Friends of the Spencers\u2014Diana\u2019s family\u2014who spoke to the Daily Beast<\/em> were increasingly optimistic about the future of Harry and William\u2019s relationship after their recent appearances.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was probably always going to be a funeral that brought the boys together under one roof, and the fact that William didn\u2019t boycott it because Harry was going to be there has cast a glimmer of hope in an otherwise deeply depressing impasse,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n \n\t\t<\/div>\n
